Dam, Sue, I LOVE the way you express yourself.... "SURVIVING PATIENTS"

rather be thriving than merely surviving... and considering the scripts and advice goin out... unless they are tied in to other DSers like on here, or meet AFTER their support group, there would probably be fewer surviving.

You do crack me up!

Patti, I think that the Powers That Be around here have decided it's best not to encourage me.   But thanks, anyway!

Yep, he cuts an excellent DS. He's a fantastic surgeon and also a heck of a nice guy. Hate to say a bad word about him, because I do believe he saved my life.

But the DS advice given by the program is wildly insufficient, and this despite the fact that their successful DSers have tried in vain to change it. I've seen some of the struggling patients at the support group who haven't found OH or PADS and are blindly following the "RNY rules". I really feel for them. Meanwhile, the office is nail-biting over DSers "losing too much" and having "too many deficiencies", but fail to make the connection to the recommendations given.

Instead of changing things, they're pulling stunts like turning away folks for the DS who have fewer than 150 lbs to lose and trying to give them RNY or VSG. It's a damn shame, and I'll stop now before I get on an ill-advised rant.

Back around 1960-something, I decided I should be a bank teller for a little while.  I was offered a few positions, and as fascinated that Bank of America's pay offer was WAY BELOW the other offers.  I asked them why that might be.

"We have a high turnover," was the reply.

I was 18 and figured out that PERHAPS the reason for the hig turnover had something to do with the fact that the other banks were all paying more.  I wonder if they ever did.

So, they don't see that THEIR protocol MAY be the problem?  And it has never occurred to them to do a decent study?

Well, hell, let's go find those people and drag them here!!!

I am pre-op and feel very lucky to have found OH and the DS forums here.  What is PADS?

Hi Pamela,

This board is truly a godsend (and so's the DS). PADS stands for "Philadelphia Area DSers".

I'm new, but my DH has the RY and he was told 30 before and 30 after, with 20 minites to eat. I was told the same thing but I foind that it kills me..

So DS'ers dont live by that rule, then what should we be doing. I am still on my broth and jello and really all I eat is the jello because its the only thing that "feels" me.. I'll be happy to move to something else soon.

I didnt know that the RY's have more rules then we, because they tell us its the same way for both where I got my surgery done.
