Such a sad obesity story

Well now I'm sitting here sobbing.  What a beautiful young man....and yes, so terribly heartbreaking.  I want to help him, ya know?

Makes me thankful and sad and so glad his music is left to enjoy.

Thank you - I was not familiar with his music although I had heard the song before, I didn't know it was him.

I will seek out his music now!

My favorite recording of him is an off the cuff track he did in a recording studio. He mixed "Wonderful World" with "Somewhere over the Rainbow" it's awesome and from what I've read he did it in one take, just off the cuff.

When I listed to his music, I'm soothed and sad at the same time, his voice is so soothing, yet you can see in the pictures of him that he had a lot of pain.

Kerry, thanks for sharing. I do love this rendition of this song, and had never known who sang it. Just beautiful, and yes, so sad. Watching his family & friends as they scattered his ashes celebrating his life was very touching - he obviously was so well-loved...

It is sad Martie, but I am grateful we still have his music. Such a sad waste of talent and of what could have been.

I've heard that song for years but never knew who sang it. What a tragic story.

There was another artist who had her own rendition of "Over The Rainbow", and in my opinion, the most beautiful verson I have ever heard. Eva Cassidy was a singer like no other. It's rare to listen to an artist with perfect pitch, which she had. Eva had her own tragic story, but she left us with her beautiful voice. Here is her sing "Rainbow" live...

I was just about to mention her too!  People who like IZ might also like her.  And I was thinking of how tragic her early death was as well (though from cancer; not obesity).

I adore Eva Cassidy's music and have almost all of her music.   An amazingly versatile singer, and another life cut way too short...   Another singer who also died an early death and whose voice was stunning was Kate Wolf.

Her version of "Fields of Gold" is one of the most beautiful covers I have ever heard.

Thanks KerryJean, I had never heard Eva before, she's a wonderful talent as well. Maybe the two of them are doing duets now ~

That is such a sad story! Mark sent me a link to this song about a year ago...just because he loved IZ's voice so much.

BTW, I read your Father's day post. You are a lucky duck! I think we are going to have to plan a trip down south just to see your new toy, and to raid Barb's recipe box. We were supposed to come down to Entrada at the end of the month, but my brother in law is caught in NJ on business and can't get away. So, we will have to see you another time. Hopefully soon.
