Truth
I am sorry to hear he isn't doing well. From the very little info we know about him, I'd guess he is not getting nearly enough protein, first and foremost. Most men seem to do better on 150 g of protein daily, at a bare minimum. Heck, even I, a 5'6" woman, need at least 120 g daily or my protein levels start to slip.
Once the protein starts to slip, it makes all the malabsorption problems that much more acute. But, if he's not taking the vitamins he needs to, he'll have a mess of problems. Most surgeons do not recommend nearly enough vitamins for DSers, so if he's simply been following his surgeon's advice, he's probably way deficient.
What's his vitamin regimen? He needs at least 2,000 mg of calcium citrate daily, along with at least 50,000 units of DRY vitamin D (not the kind in oil capsules). Plus the DRY form of vitamin A as palmitate (not Vit A as beta carotene, which doesn't work for DSers). And some vitamin K, again the dry form. Let's not forget two multivitamins daily.
Is he taking something like this regimen? What I've outlined isn't even all the basics, but I didn't want to blather on if he's on board with his vites.
When were his last labs? If you could post them, that would help some of the veterans figure out what he may be missing, vitamin-wise.
How old is your son? Can you get him on here so we can help him? There are many, many healthy post-op DSers on here who are living very energetic lives, and we'd really like to help him be one.
Honestly, it's not the amount of weight someone loses that determines their health as a post-op, whether they got the DS or another surgery. It's getting in enough protein and supplements, regardless of weight.
I think its important for him to have a primary physician and surgeon willing to work with him who is very familiar with the DS. Is it possible for him to change doctors?
Like others have asked on here, what exactly is going on? What complications has he had?
There are many on here who unfortunately had complications and they do post about them if you read through the posts.
What is the source of his struggling? At a year and a half out his stomach should have stretched to the point that he should be able to get a small/normal sized meal in.

His weight going in 500lbs. Now 195,
He cant do all those things. He vomits, has diarrhea, just has no energy. One year after his surgery he got a blood clot in his let which spread to his lungs. Got put on kumadin which now he cant have vitaming K or anything with k. 4 months after being treated and told the clot broke down it cam back bigger than ever and had to have surgery (which just was in March) trying to recover from this 4 weeks ago had a galbladder attack, had to have gallbladder removed and then they found that his common bio duct has been clogged so they had to cut that open and clean that out and place a bio bag in. Which now he has hanging for 6 weeks. This is way to much for him. He is 26years old

1) Who was your son's surgeon?
2) What does he eat on a daily basis? Does he drink protein shakes?
3) Is he supplementing with vitamins and if so, what and how much?
4) He's at 195--what is his current BMI?
5) Other than his current medical difficulties (clot, gallbladder)--is he happy with his loss and how he is feeling?
That would be a great start--unfortuntately, I'm guessing the answers to the 2nd half of question 2 and #3 is no, and that's probably most of the reason he's not doing well. Other questions will inevitably pop up, but with that information we can give you a starting point.
But I'm a little confused here. You say you're looking for help with what you believe are his DS-related problems. Close to a dozen people have responded to you, saying they want to help, but would need some more specific information in order to do so. Yet you haven't responded with any of the information that's been requested, even something as basic as who his surgeon is.
Yes, most of the people here are doing really well, but there are some who've had severe problems, and many more who are extremely knowledgeable about the subject. So there's a lot of help here, if you want it.
