Extra Smooth Ricotta Cheese ??

Ok, was I dreaming or did I read here someone said they found Sargento brand extra smooth ricotta somewhere?  I can't find it anywhere near me, not even the regular Sargento brand, so, I wrote to the company and asked.  The rep who wrote me back didn't seem to know what I was talking about when I said "extra smooth."  Is it labeled "extra smooth" and it's a seperate variety than the others, or is the "extra smooth" just a marketing banner?  And is Sargento the actual brand or was it from another company?

Thanks all!  I'm in the mood for fluff and thought I'd try the extra smooth and creamy.

At my local Walmarts they carry the Sorrento Brand called Velvety Smooth. It's the best I have ever used. They only carry it in the smaller container that I have seen.

Hi Lyndia,

Actually, it isn't Sargento, it's Sorrento. And it's called "Sorrento Velvety Smooth Ricotta". Good luck finding it!

I use the Sorrento Velvetty smooth, in fact it is so good that I refuse to buy the other kind now!! My local superwalmart carries it but my other local stores don't. I make a special trip to Walmart just to get it and I buy half a dozen tubs at a time (they have a long shelf life and I make a batch if fluff every couple of days!!). Try using some Fage yoghurt 2% in with your ricotta for the fluff as well as the whipped topping ~! it tastes great!!

Breakstones is another to try.  It's extra smooth without saying so .

Thanks, ladies.  I'm sitting here laughing at myself.  I bet the rep from Sargento's was looking at her computer screen like!   I feel so blonde!  Ok, so now I'll look for the correct brand.  I know my local super Wal-Mart doesn't carry it, either.  They only carry an off-brand that tastes horrible, and Kroger only carries one brand as well.  Guess I'll have to look at Marsh and Meijer, and if they don't have it, I'm SOL.

Thanks again!

Sorrento's website has a product locator, I think. That's how I found a store near me that carried it.

Thanks, Jenna,  I used the product locator and apparently there aren't any stores within a 20 mile radius of where I live that carry it.  Figures.  I've tried finding the Breakstone brand, too, but no luck.  ARGH!

Lyndia,

I've always bought Breakstones ricotta at Fresh Market on 146th St...there's one in Broad Ripple too.   I'll have to try the Sorrento brand too...but I love Breakstones.

Thanks for the tip, Kathy.  I'll have to check it out next time I'm up that way.  How are you doing?  I've missed you at the last couple of meetings.  Hope you're doing well.  Take care.
