Let's do a poll: Do you drink protein shakes?

Interesting post Lori!

I am 10 months out and I drink a protein shake every morning. I look forward to my S & S Frap in the mornings. I have never been a morning eater, so the frap is perfect for me. The crazy thing is that I actually enjoy the taste of my morning frap--thanks to Champion whey protein in chocolate, sugar-free toffe coffee syrup, and LOTS of cream.

I don't do protein shakes. I've tried them on and off but can never find a flavor I quite like and they all seem to give me bubble guts, as my family likes to call it. The only good thing is that whatever I buy and don't use I give to my brother and he drinks it because he uses them to build muscle. It gets really expensive buying one after the other. I'm going to try one of the "unflavored" ones when I order more vits from Vitalady. Thanks for the thread Lori, it's very interesting reading. Makes me want to start drinking shakes.

I am 6 months postop and I have had a total of 4 protein drinks since surgery.  I have become VERY lactose and whey intolerant and the protein shakes effect me horribly.  I have recently learned that GNC carries soy and egg protein powder, so I will be trying those very soon.  I will be waiting until the first of the month to get my 20% discount though.  I am hoping that I can find something that I can tolerate and like.  It would be especially helpful on days when I don't really want to eat.

Lori, thank you for always sharing your experiences.  You are a wonderful help to all of us.  Big hugs to you!  I am so glad you have started to feel better.

I have found brown rice protein powder to be great.  Whole foods carries it and you can find it online.

No way, no how.  Never had one, hope to never need one.  The very thought of slurping down something thick and sweet, especially when I'm hungry, just grosses me out.  No, I'm not even fond of milkshakes -- they are too sweet!

If they made protein supplements in cream of chicken soup flavor AND I needed to have them, I might consider it -- but I'm doing right fine with FOOD.

I'm one whole week out.  I started playing around with protein shakes about two months ago to see what I liked.  I use soy milk and brown rice protein powder and add in a ripe banana, peanut butter, and a tablespoon of cocoa powder with some ice.  I love them.  Am now drinking a double scoop (24gms of protein plus 9 for the peanut butter) every morning for breakfast.  I also add my probiotic powder and as of this morning, started adding flax seed oil.

I'm drinking one right now.

I've been drinking them regularly (usually once per day) for the past week.  I got a tub of Champion whey stack vanilla because I figured I could make it many different flavors.  Right now I'm having blackberry, because I added Smuckers no sugar seedless blackberry jam to it.

I do feel better drinking them, too.  thanks Lori for your promotion of the shakes!
