Help Me.....Weight Regain....5 years Post op
I started this journey at almost 500 lbs. I am a 54 yo male that is 6'-6'" tall. I lost down to 240 lbs and was 10 lbs under goal. Over the last 18 months I have gained back almost 70 lbs. I know my eating has not what it should be and I have gone back to craving the carbs just about as much as I did pre-op. I just hate I have gained so much. I have decided, starting this Monday, I am going back to my 1 year post-op diet and am going to cut as many carbs out as possible.
Do any of you know someone that has experienced this? And can I lose the weight again? Have I lost the "window"?
Even though I am upset about the re-gain in weight, I am still thankfull for the almost 200lb loss from my original starting point and would crawl back to the hospital if they told me I had to go back through the surgery or regain all of the weight. I am fully convince this surgery saved my life and tremendously increased my quality of life. I just don't want to go back!!!!

Kennedy is 8 years out, gained 53 lbs, and just "went back to basics" of lower carbing and lost all the weight she had gained.
You are a tall man -- you are one of the people we short women HATE , because you are most likely to lose the easiest and have the easiest time keeping it off.
You know what you have to do. The carb cravings are self-fulfilling -- the more you eat the more you want. Back to mostly protein and fat, and salads.

Diana beat me to it. Kennedy is your source for inspiration.
The further out we get, the worse we eat. Breads and sugars become part of our everyday life all over again, and it starts to get into the way of our success. The key is finding the balance that we don't feel deprived and we don't gain or lose.
If you check my profile, I've got some of my favorite high protein snacky foods. I found that if I start my day with high protein, that I can keep my carb cravings low and eventually break the sugar ****

Hi Charlie!!
I am just now seeing your post! I so understand what you are going through. As Diana and Val mentioned, I am 8 years out and gained back 53 lbs, which I have since taken off, relatively easily.
Please see my profile for details on what and how I did it. This group is a tremendous resource for guidance and support. I went back to basics and got my regain off. Only started working on it in June of last year.
My story is also posted at the following link:

Let me know if you have any questions for me. You can get the weight off and at your size, probably pretty quickly! You are the same height as my younger brother!
Good luck!
