wow folks, this thread was extremely interesting and worth staying up too late to catch up reading.  I'm sorry I missed the party.  Some of your responses were so very quick witted I enjoyed that immensely. I agree shannon seems like a troll.  I appreciate Dr. Simpson taking time to respond.  Dr Simpson has a right to decide to stop doing whatever surgical procedure he wants to, especially considering his program may be failing to prepare pts and maintain follow-up with his DS pts sufficiently to succeed with aftercare.  I'll say it does take a certain amount of brain power to be able to understand the DS and keep up with the supplements and labs, and maybe he doesn't have an effective screening process or is not interested in the risk.  Humanity does get lazy and those noncompliant folks must not  have hit bottom like I have.  At the point in my life where I am turning to WLS and DS, I am more than willing to be dedicated to my follow up.  The alternative is continuing to live the miserable life of obesity with comorbdities and early death.  I am thankful for the surgeons who do still perform the DS and who establish structures aftercare plans for their WLS pts.
