Who benefited from DSers posting on other forums?
*raises hand* me!
I had seen diana, pattyl and starry1st posting on another forum and that really cinched the deal for me. Prior to that i was very disappointed in the choice between RNY and band and really didn't fancy living with either.. soo.. here I am 6 days away from surgery and it's all because people have shown how easy it is to live with a ds compared to the others
I thank you all
I too started out on the main board thinking those were the only 2 surgery options. As I was reading the term *ds* kept popping up and I had no idea what it was or what the ds stood for so I used the search option which led me here.
There is no looking back for me. I didn't like either of those other methods and was just about to throw the towel in for a surgical means as I knew I wasn't going to have either of those....and as always it seems to happen, just when I close the door another door opens... HELLO DS !
Oh yeah, Diana all the efforts here to Pay It Forward ARE bearing fruit AND saving lives. Even tho I didn't have the lapband I did have an adjustable gastric band way back in 1992 and regained. So I lurked awhile on the lapband forum looking for posts about revisions. Well, one night I read a post about the DS, I can't remember who wrote it but they were Paying It Forward. So naturally being the very inquisitive person I am, right, I just had to go check out the DS forum. For months before my surgery I couldn't wait to get home from work to read all the posts, I would sit for hours and hours and read and search the net for any info I could find about it. This forum has been my home here on OH ever since even tho I don't always have time to do alot of posting, I wish I did but I also care for my dad who has Alzeheimers. I appreciate sooooo much the folks here who share soooo much of their knowledge and research. I have made a huge notebook for my own use full of all the info I've found out, studies, reports, you name it, anything to do with this lifesaving procedure. I STILL cannot get enough info about it and I had my revision to DS back in November of 2006. I will be forever grateful to everyone who shared their experience and knowledge. The DS forum absolutely rocks, even tho there are disagreements and some strife here just like in real life, the DS forum is an absolutely wonderful community. Thanks for all your sharing Diana and everyone else who has taken the time to help out all those here with questions and concerns. I truly believe lives are being saved and changed by this forum and the vast amount of knowledge shared here. I know I am alive today because of this forum and my having chosen the DS because of it. Thank you ALL sooo much, I wish I could meet every one of you and just give you all great big hugs! You've literally helped save my life and I love you all for it!

I'm not sure how I missed this the other times it's been around . . .
Me, too! I was fighting the push from my family to get a revision to the RnY . . . .absolutely refusing, would be a better phrase! But to qualm all the b*tching, I agreed to post a question . . . which led me here!
