Topic: HI!!!!

Ok so I didnt want to see it go  a whole 7 days with no posts.

How is everyone doing?   How is the fall change of weather hitting you?  Are you ready to switch gears for the fall /winter season? How about food choices do they tend to change with the season? Do you think oyu make better decisions in the summer or fall?

I'll start it  off.....

Im doing well dealing with a slight medical issue but its being handled ( not sure but could be rny related).  OH yeeah i did get some labs done my pcp wanted because of my current issues----Im low in magnesium, calcium, and potassium--- I havent been faithful to my vitamins, my hand is smackd im making  a better effort.
This weather is COLD already i pulled out a space heater tonight to get my room warmed up before bed.  Im excited fall is here I love this time of year ....if I was warmer or maybe just had someone to keep me warm it could be better...LOL.
I think its easier for me to make smarter food choices in fall because I have more time to cook my own food.

Hey!
I had my VSG through Christiana Hospital - but my insurance covered it - I was very lucky!  I don't know how much it will cost you in the long run, but I do know from being a Christiana employee that they are really easy to make payment arrangements with and as long as you call billing soon after the first bill is received - you can make arrangements with them.

Hope this helps! And good luck with your VSG...feel free to email me with questions or if you want to talk! [email protected]

*hugs*

Wow, Amy.  Those are wonderful and so very true.  I've actually tried to live my life by Goldie Hawn's philosophy and so far I believe I've been pretty successful.

Hope you're having a good weekend.   Nina

I just added new pictures to my profile. Go comment them! I would really like it! Some of them are embarrasing, but I know everyone has either been there or probably will be there- so that makes me feel better!

Topic: RE: Introductions -- Old and New...
HI!!!  I know I met some of you the other night at the support meeting  and i hope to see you all agian in the future.

I was always one of the bigger girls but i wasnt too bad until about age 22 then I just blew up.  I tried some diets and i paid for a perosoanl trainer.  I had always had really bad asthma and sometimes that would limit my physical activity.    I was trying and failing. I had  gone to an OBGYN with some concerns and didnt like her bed side manner so i switiched dr's.  MY BEST decision ever.  I found dr schubert and she diagnosed me clinically with PCOS.  Finally i had a reason for my physical issues.  The bad news was  there was no pill to fix it but they could help with some of the effects . I tried metformin but hat just dropped my blood sugar instead of the wieght ( i was not diabetic they use metformin aka glucophage to help women with pcos lose weight)  after this i became discouraged and i didnt eat horribly buti didnt eat well either.   I couldnt do my job at times i was in worse shape then the patients I would transport.

Dr shubert asks me if i considered weight loss surgery...I was surprised and kinda blew the idea off.  After I got over the shock I started looking into it a little bit. I met a local Dr and had a consult I wasnt impressed with him in the least and found out my ins had just stopped participating with them.  My parents offered me the money to have surgery if it would make me healthy I was unesy with this dr and so i said no .

About a a year or so later a guy from work told me about his wifes experience and her DR.  I looked them up and thought ok . I called then when they called back i didnt answer or call back for months.  I finally decided i had to put my fear aside and I called and made the consult apppointment.  I took a friend with me this time.  We both left with the theory that I had to do this so I could live again I was at my highest weight.  My consult was april 7 2008, my surgery was scheduled for june2 2008.   It was really happening.  i have factor five leiden too so i was relly afraid of throwing a clot and being a vegetable for the remaining part of my life.  But that morning my parents drove me to langhorn and I went in to OR ,  My dr hugged me before they put me out and said she would take good care of me . I was petrified but  i was there and that was that.  IT has been the best decision of my life.

This may sound wierd to you all but it was amazing the first time I was performing CPR on a someone and I didnt have to stop to take my inhaler. I was actually able to take care of pt without needing to treat myself.   I now very rarely need asthma meds and I plan on attempting a 5k with in the year.

I found OH about a month before surgery and I have valued its members and advice ever since

Thank you all for being a part of my life ---- a life I can actually live :)
