Aww guys, I didn't get to come to the meeting. Tuesday is truck inventory at work. I have to verify 8 vending trucks. Seems like it takes forever. I'm going to try to make it next month.
I was so mad that guys couldn't get their trucks back and counted down earlier.
My husband now takes our son to football practice so he can't come either. :O(

Topic: Seven years ago....
At this time seven years ago, I was thinking about getting to the hospital in the morning, writing letters to my kids, and trying to stay as calm as possible. Ready to enter into a new life. But feeling lots of apprehension. Seven years ago, RNY was still in it's infancy. The special ward for gastric bypass was still under construction, and the staff at Christiana Care was still learning how to handle super morbidly obese patients.
But after seven years, I can honestly say that even with all the risks, that I made the wisest decision of my life. It has been a great seven years. I am alive and loving every minute of my new life. I can't believe all the new friends that I have made at support meetings, races, rides, and around every corner. Through ObesityHelp.com I have friends all over the U.S. Best of all,I am able to celebrate my new life every day with my wonderful wife who has helped me through every day of this journey. My kids have supported and encouraged me along the way.
I still have the greatest admiration for the surgeons at CHRIAS, the staff at PMRI, and my personal physician at Delaware Family Care. They have monitored and kept me on track for the past seven years. I also have to thank my new chiropractor, Dr. Ward, for keeping my feet, ankles, knees, and hips working so I can stay active. The other person to thank, is my exercise buddy, coach, and confidant, Susan, who pushes me to go well beyond my percieved limits.
The last seven years have been a blur. I have now done the MS-150 Bike to the Bay seven times, ran three marathons, twelve 1/2 marathons, seven duathlons, and many other runs and rides. Not sure what the next seven years have in store, but it really is great to be able to actually plan for the future...
Thanks for sharing my journey.

Hi, Amy, thanks for trying to keep things alive around here. :)
I'm doing great. Went to CHRIAS last week for my 3 month follow up and I'm rocking it. 75 lbs down since surgery at the end of June! I don't know why I'm always telling myself I didn't lose much when I go in. I have to stop doing that. I'm being good. :)
I've rededicated myself to vitamins, too. I recently bought some stuff from Celebrate and it's really good. They have drink packets that you add to a bottle of water and it has half your vitamins and calcium for the day. They even have a protein shake that does the same thing. 25 g of protein and 1/2 your vitamins and calcium. The protein ones come in two flavors Chocolate Milk which is really good and Vanilla Cake Batter which surprised me by being my favorite. Real easy to drink. The vitamins only come in Citrus (tastes like Tang) and Wild Cherry. Try 'em out. They'll give you a free sample of everything if you ask. (Except those protein packs...that product is new and they don't have enough for samples yet...but they will give you your money back if you don't like the flavor of it if you only drink one packet)
Joined the Y. I go to the Bear/Glasgow one. Trying to do a half hour three times a week. I ride the stationary bike. Last night was my third time going and I got three miles in. It's not much, but it's a start. :)
I love fall, too, the nip in the air and hiding under the blankets. I like to think of it as Ireland weather that we're having now. A wee bit cold and rainy. :)
Are you the Amy who came to the support group at Christiana? It was nice meeting you if it was. I really look forward to coming back. I have to pass on the Star Award! :)
If you're not, it's a pleasure to meet you here. :)
Foodwise, I'm looking forward to some hearty soups and stews. I always loved soup, so I'm glad you can really pack it with protein and it goes down easily for me. Nothing warms the soul like a good bowl of soup.
Hope everyone is having a great week! Looking forward to jumpstarting this group.
