Good Morning Delaware,

Well today is the last day of 2008.  I can't believe all the changes in my life this past year.  I never in a million years would have thought that I would leave a company that I was employed with for 22 years, move to the Eastern Shore of MD and be unemployed for alnost 3 months or that I would gain back 20lbs.  The last one is the one that bothers me the most, so I am going to do the 5 Day Pouch Test starting on Saturday, January 3rd.  If anyone wants to join me please do, if you want to follow along with my progress I will be blogging on my OH page the progress, the struggles and the results.

What are your plans for this New Year's Eve?  Mine are to just stuggle on the couch with Doug and eat some seafood, other then that nothing exciting.  My days of going out and partying in the new year are history.  Anyone making any New Year's resolutions?  I am not, I am just going to go back to eating the way I should and take better care of myself.

I do have a job interview on Friday with a company in Cambridge, MD as a customer service rep, so hopefully something will come of that.

Hope everyone has a happy and safe New Years.

Deanna

I am trying to find DS patients in Sussex County or near.by areas.  I would like to make contact with them and start a support group.  I certainly respect the other WLS patients, but it is definately nice to meet with others with the same surgery.  Thank you,  Marge

Hi All!
My day is going good.  I just found out my company is going to "trim the fat".  My boss took me aside and thanked me for my dedication and commitment to the company.  She said I'll have to take on more responsiblity when they lay off some peep's.  WHEW!! I am so thankful I'm not the one, I told her no problem, I'll do anything she needs done!

Here's to wishing everyone a prosperous and healthy New Year!!

Judy

Deanna-- your son was fantastic and seems to be a really great person to me.  I had only met him that night but he and all the people from the firehouse are really good, i like working there part time.

Kathy---  I am so sorry your week has gone so wrong so quick.  I do hope things start looking up for you.   I wish you the best with your grandchildren.  With your love and dedication  for them everything should work out.  Hey i know the financial worry is there would it be beneficial for you to get cerified as a day care provider then if your daughter isnt working and can get purchase of care she could pay you with that and it would benefit both of you? That way the kids would still have the benefit of there loving grandparents but you would have some type of additional income. I thnk the rules may even be different for purchase of care if the children go to family but i dont know .

Joanne---  I hope your ankle gets mended soon and its nothing serious.

so here is what happened this morning .....I left work at 7 went to  get labs for my surgeon that yesterday my pcp said since i am already getting what he needs then just get  the surgeons labs sent to him......yeah didnt work that way lab corps couldnt do that. So i run across the street to my doctors office my DR wasnt in until 1pm. I go back to  labcorps get my lab work and leave.  I make it about 1/2 mile up the road im in a turning lane and someone tries to get into my lane in the same space im occupying hence a crash happens. No one was hurt thank goodness and there is damage to my car but all in all i guess its not that bad so everyone says...its my car so it looks horrible to me...LOL.  UUGGHHH  I want a do over for this week and its only tuesday.

from what i read here a few other people could do well with a do over too. I hope things get better all the way around.
.calgon take me away!!!!!

Kathy, Sounds like you had the day from hell yesterday ! beleive me I have been there too but I truely know God only gives us what we can handle. My grandkids were 5 and 6 when I took guardianship of them. It has not been an easy road but I would do it over in a minute. They are my life. You will be Blessed for taking care of them. I didn't say it would be easy. Our you guys going thru court to make you legal guardian ? If so there is benefits ( not much ) that you can get that is not based on your income. Call me when you get a chance. I have a Dr's appointment at 11:00 this morning. Debbie's dog tripped me last night with his lease and I injured my ankle. I couldn't walk this morning and it has been trobbing all night.  My car is being worked on too. I have to take the parts to Fredricka today. hopefully it will get fixed this week. My son taking me to work is getting old. I feel like a trapped animal without my own wheels.  When it rains , it pours ! Please let me know how I can help. Call me ( 947-0417 ) or just stop by.  You will get thru this with God's help and lots of prayers . Talk with you soon. Joanne

Good Tuesday morning Joanne, and all the other posters and lurkers,  Monday was an eventful day for me and Ed.

We started out with Ed needing to be in Georgetown by 8:30 a.m.  --  I had to be in Lewes by 11:15 a.m., and then in Philly by 2 p.m. so we knew we had a busy day ahead. His car has to be jumped every day until we get the money for a tensioner pulley, so he took my Pontiac to Georgetown.  I was afraid he wouldn't get back from his appointment in time for me to get to Lewes for -mine-, but he was.  We went to my PCP appointment and the doc ordered a whole sheet of labs and x-rays due to my increasing problems with bilateral small joint pain and swelling.  I pray it's not Rheumatoid Arthritis but chances are, it is.  I've also had this chronic but almost symptomless UTI, so another culture will be done.  By noon, we are off to Philly for my 2:00 dentist appointment.  We walked in the office at 1:55.  Whew.  I had 2 broken teeth, one that I have let go since August and the other one broke a month ago.  I sat in the chair for almost 3 hours and I am very sore today.  I will go back in 3 weeks and have 2 permanent crowns put in.  Any regular dentist would have cost me close to $1600 just for what was done yesterday but ours is family and we only pay lab fees.  My crowns will cost me about $80 each.  That's why we go to Philly for our dental care.  God Bless Dr. Wasko---he is Ed's cousin.

Heading back home, we always stop at the Valero on Rt.1 about 5 miles south of the AFB to top off the gas tank.  We didn't make it that far.  We ran out of gas right in front of the base, at the Old Lebanon Rd. overpass in Little Creek.  I called 911 and they sent a trooper, who called a tow truck to bring us some gas.  The tow driver gets there and says "no one said anything about gas, they just told me someone needed to be towed.  I don't have any gas on board."  CRAP.  He takes off to get a couple gallons and when he gets back, I write him a check for $62 for the gas; then he gets an emergency call so he had to leave us there on the side of the road, trying to get fuel into the lines....the car wouldn't start.  Needless to say, my Pontiac is still sitting there on Rt. 1.  It has to be something else other than no fuel...it still won't start and we drained the battery with the 4 way flashers running.  Our friend came and picked us up so all told, we left Longneck at 10:30 am yesterday and did not get back to the house until 11:30 last night.  We have to go back and retrieve the car today.  We already know what Ed's first paycheck from Perdue will be used for....getting both of the cars fixed.

Bad luck comes in 3's so I am waiting for the third shoe to fall.  The 3rd shoe?  A family roundtable will happen here tonight to finalize the plans for us to take temporary custody of our 3 grandkids so my daughter and her husband can get any job, any shift, anywhere without worrying about child care.  Joanne,  I know you have your grandkids and I could use some advice here.  Mine are much younger....the oldest just started kindergarten.  I will have to stop working and that's the big shoe because I have only been at this job for just under a month.  We need anything I can earn but those babies need a home first.  God will provide for our needs, He always does but this one scares me.

I hope everyone has a better Tuesday than my Monday was!!

Hi Amy,

Sorry to hear about this health problem.  The funny thing is I heard about this earlier today by my son.  I am the mother of the handsome young man who assisted Patrick last night on A16.  Jonathan is my baby.  If he ever gets on your nerves just smack him    I hope he doesn't drive you crazy.  He is very passionate about firefighting and has been since he was 18 months old.  Some parents take their kids to carnivals and state fairs during the summer, I took mine to fire stations and on more then one occasion have followed fire trucks to fires or traced down smoke in the air so he could see the fire fighters at work.

Hope you are feeling better.  Take care.

Deanna

Oh My...sounds like a hell of a time.  Hang in there.  Mother/daughter relationships are sometimes very difficult and time does often help.  Just don't follow her behavior, as the kids are watching to see how you handle it.  Concentrate on getting settled, the new home and the kids.  And be grateful for the 10 mile distance!

Hi to Delaware Boards.  It has been forever since I've been here, 2 years out this past Nov and I'm still hanging in there doing great.  Alot of changes in my life occurred this year and I have been busy, busy, busy at work.  Early Oct I wa**** with an emergency hernia surgery, it was the most painful and the longest surgery I have had to recover from thus far.  Apparently, I had a lot of adhesions that also needed removal and I didn't realize and got myself pretty sick a few weeks out. All is back to normal again, my kids and I had a low key Christmas (no there were not alot of presents under our tree this year) but we had our family and were all together and that is what mattered the most.

I too will try to do a better job checking in, now that work has calmed down I should be able to do this a little easier.

Enjoy the rest of your holidays all!
