Well . . . the blood sugar drop is called "reactive hypoglycemia" I think. It has been happening to me about once a month for the past year or so (I'm almost 5 years out) and usually occurs when I've binged on too many carbs, about an hour or so later my pancreas kicks out too much insulin in reaction and then my sugar goes low. I feel shaky and start seeing spots before my eyes. Some people keep a package of peanut butter crackers or a small juicebox handy to bring sugar levels back up quickly.
The pain and nausea you are describing could be some sort of bowel obstruction (twisted bowel, scar tissue or your intestines getting temporarily stuck in a hernia). That also happened to me (but prior to my rny surgery). With me, I could lie down for a bit and the pain would subside (for days). But then the episodes started getting worse so I had to get the hernia surgically repaired as it was literally strangling my intestines.

Cathy, My support group is now being held at The Communnity Church of Oak Orchard on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month at 7pm. My daughter Debbie and I also go up North to Victory's Support Group the 3rd Tuesday of each month. It is at 7pm. We leave Milford at 3p.m. . Do errands and get dinner before going to the group. If you are interested in going with us please feel free to email me at : [email protected] or call anytime (302)947-0417. As for the hernia, they can cause pain. Mind did not but I could feel the tear which could be pushed in. When it popped out I looked like I had 3 boobs. Debbie has a low hernia. Her's is very painful for days. She can't eat anything on them days. She vomits up everything. Other days she has no problem. She sees the surgeon on Feb 4th. See you lighter. Joanne

Hi everyone!! Hope all is well - it's been a while since I've been on here. I've got a couple questions too that I'm hoping ya'll can help me with. First, how can you tell if you have a hernia? I've been experiencing a lot of nausea lately and some (not a lot) of stomach pain, and the pain comes and goes so does the nausea. I've also been experiencing episodes where my blood sugar level drops - fast. I have an appt. with Dr. Hundle in March, but that's still over a month away. Anybody else had this problem (I'm almost 4 years post-op). And lastly, this question is for Joanne Hammond....when is your support group and where??? I was going to Ginger's but bless her heat she had to discontinue it, and I need a support group. Thanks everyone, and I look forward to hearing from you!!!!

That's funny that you are talking about Mrs. Robino's. My parents used to take us there when we were growing up (in Harford County, Maryland!). Then when we moved to southern Chester Co., we went there often, too. And recently, my parents have been asking me if I would like to go there with them. Of course, I say, "Yeah, just tell me when." I'm betting I will get there soon, as they both love the place. Elissa, you are right...their food is always delicious and the prices are reasonable. We also went to anothe restaurant in Wilmington...I think it's name was "Hearn's." Do you remember that one? They always had a bowl of chutney on the table for an appetizer.
I chuckled when I saw your mention of "last meals." I did the same thing...for about six weeks or so prior to surgery, I went out to one of my favorite places once a week. And yes, I still eat at some of them, but I hardly eat out at all any more, compared to what I used to. I used to eat almost every meal out, and now I eat out about once a week (or less), and a regular meal lasts for two or three meals! Good for the budget, and the body! It's a double-winner!
Hope everyone had a good day, and is safe & warm in this little blast of winter!
Take care,
Leslie
