Hey Deb:

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I too have had my share of pain management issues. After

fracturing my pelvic bone in two places and being out of work for over two months after just

getting a promotion in July of 2008 I thought I was going nuts because I had to take Percosets

day and night to deal with the pain. I now want to start going back to the gym so I can get ready

for my annual trip to Las Vegas. Take care and hope to see you soon.

Hey there

Im sorry I cant help i didnt have theband i had RNY one reason was because i didnt want ot worry about fills.

I am actually thinking about joining a gym just not sure its in the budget right now.  I am going to buy a couple sets of hand weights  here next week and do some working out at home.  I am going for a bike ride this weekend.   I really want to go roller skating that would be a fun way to get in some good cardio but im scared to death if I get tripped I'll break a leg and get taken out of work.LOL

Good luck with getting the answers you need.

I do a similar drinking thing - I drin****il its time for next feeding.  I know I am substituting one thing for another....but it seems to help with the weight.  I do have days where I am really busy that also helps keeps me away from food.  Although sometimes that does me bad...sugar drops too low and I start to feel like crap.  Its definitely a hard road.  But if it was easy everyone would keep the weight at bay right.

I love to eat fruit and veggies these days....Limas and carrots - I know weird huh.  I do a protein shake in AM - I love my Tropical Punch Pina Colada I call it.  Every day without fail.  Helps for the protein I don't eat.

Music is a good motivator.  I love to listen to everything.  Depending on the task, I do stuff like Barbra when I need to concentrate, and Mettalic when I want to just let loose.

You are right the winter is a tough time to get yourself moving.

Sorry things aren't improving on the family front.  I understand that those issues can be very destructive to us.  I guess its probably one of the reasons I got as heavy as I did because I thought by being that heavy I could disappear and people would leave me alone.  I really don't think that worked but it was a good illusion for my mind.  Can you get into a therapist?  Sometimes the professional sees things that could help us defuse things for our own good.  I  do hope you find peace of mind soon.  Its not good to be in that state of mind.

Howdy Liz,

Gosh a Sleeve Gastrectomy...never heard of that one before.  Can you provide me with some details...how does that differ from RNY - is it easier on recovery?  Hopefully the first person that had the surgery will pop in to say hi as well!  That would be a nice - at least you could compare what items are happening.  That was a good thing for me with RNY - at the time I had it there were lots of people that did it before me and could help me through the process.  Although its now that I need the help and its not RNY related so its hard to find the support like I did for the RNY questions.  So how do you feel so far.  Have you run into any problems?  I am sure the downstate groups are good source for help too.  Joanne Hammond is very active in that area.

Thanks for popping in and hopefully seeing you soon.

I am here lurking daily . . . too depressed to post, though, sorry. Having toxic family-of-origin issues that are causing me to sink slowly.
