Topic: Update -Exploratory
Thanks for all your well wishes!  It is awesome to know I have you all for support!

I had exploratory on the 23rd and my intestines at the Y were sutured together in order to stop the intesupption.  At this moment in time I am still uncomfortable at times, but have not experienced the "fetal position pain" since the surgery! :-)  I hope this will continue.  I am still using the Levsin  (from my GI) when I feel uncomfortable and it is working AWESOME!

Long story short, I had surgery and have recovered (for the most part).  I am in Chicago at the National Education Assoc. meeting.  I fly home on Wednesday, have a massage scheduled in the afternoon, and then have arm surgery on Thursday.

I would love to here from anyone who has done their arms outpatient.  I am concerned about being in pain Thursday night and not being able to do anything about it.  (I have been on a bigger dose of vicodin for about a year and a half than my plastic surgeon has prescribed.)  I did call her with concern, but she thought that it would be okay and to use Perkaset would cause more intestinal issues, which we are trying to avoid anyway...What was your recovery like?  How was the pain?  How much could you move?

Thanks!

I may have had a few extra potholes along the way, but the journey has been good!

Thanks for the great find!  I would run over there right now if I wasn't in Chicago!  I might have to send my Mom!

Topic: Another great find at Big Lots!

Hello All-
You can always find something good at Big Lots!
I shop at the one in Elkton. Today's great find is
Muscle Milk Protein H2O-
Raspberry, Grape, Grapefruit and Orange flavors
16oz. bottles
Cal 60
Fiber 5gr.
Protein 10gr (whey protein isolate)

The best part... You can't even smell or taste the protein!
Raspberry was very good. I also got the grapefruit, thinking if there was a smell or taste it would probably best get hidden in this flavor.
75c a bottle! Amazon offers it- 12 bottles for $33.77
Let me do the math for you.... OMG thats $2.81 + s/h a bottle.
I believe i'm going to have to go back and stock up on a variety of flavors (expiration dates are good)

I was also able to get Edamame for $1.20 a bag.
14 gr of protein in 1/4 cup!

Enjoy your weekend!
Stay hydrated!

Judy

Celia, Deep thoughts. Glad to see you at the meeting the other night. You look great. I still come away from the meetings energized and full of hope. Hope that everyone I can come in contact with gets something out of WLS that I have. I learn something new each and every meeting. Meet new faces and soooo glad to see some oldies. Hearing everyone's journey inspires me to stay on track and remain positive & focused.

So glad I have met all my WLS friends. Keep in touch often. Hope to see everyone next month.

Topic: attitude
for the last several yrs i've had the attitude of yeah right as far as the band.
well this past support mtg something was said.  dont remember exactly but made me think.

(speaking in metaphors)

i bought myself a $22,000* car.  she sits in my driveway.  i know she is there.  i start her every so often.  i have supplies for her, ie oil/pro powder.  BUT  i never use her.  i am waiting.  but for what.

i go to car shows/support mtgs.  many admire.  chat.  ask questions.  different topics are talked about her care.  but still not used.

ah remember that neighborhood - FEAR.  i dont want to drive her in that neighborhood.  dont know what is there.  who is there.  what challenges i/she would face there.  i dont go.

i stay safely in my driveway.

time/my life is still driving on.

but i found out, she is depreciating as she sits.

as she sits, there are other issues developing just from sitting.  didnt consider many of them when i bought her.

in this economic time, lkng at this in that terms - what a loss i have taken.  of my own doing.  omg.

so i keep reminding myself.  i bought this $22,000 car, why not use her.  she is ready to go.  very economical (over the long haul)  in the short run, not using her is costing me dearly.

thought i would share my thoughts.
take care.

*my ins didnt pay for the procedure.  I have receipts from Christiana for $16,100 and $6,00 for Dr. Peters himself.

Topic: RE: Old member finally having surgery
Thank you for everyone's recommendation. I totally did the less is more thing and anything I needed my sis brought up for me. I thing the only thing I needed was my phone and charger to be perfectly honest. The nurses were awesome with providing everything else. I am happy to say I had an uneventful surgery. I was lucky I wasnt in much pain...but then again I have a pretty high pain tolerance. I expected it to be much worse. So far I'm down a little over 20lbs...I"m trying to stay away from the scale, lol!

You, my friend,  get an A+ for all your effort. Are you back to your old regime yet?

Hope to see you on June 21st, next Healthy Changes support group meeting.

This time last year we were scrambling to find a new place for the support group
to meet. It was hot, hot, hot. We had 1 meeting at the Kirkwood Library. Nice, but no air conditioning. Then we had  the good fortune to move over to Christiana Hospital. What a great oppurtunity and growth potential for the group. Will post more within the week.

So with this school year coming to an end, it's time to evaluate how you're doing on this journey. Are you going to graduate to the next level, or stay repeat the previous year.

Remember grades are given in nutrition, exercise, attitude and support.

Time to excel in all these areas.

BTW, needed to post something to the DE forum. There was a rumor going around that we were about to be annexed to PA.
