Langhorne - Barix Clinic patients?

I've posted a few times on the main forum, but I just found this forum. It's nice to read messages from fellow Delawareans! My initial consult is scheduled for Friday at the Barix Clinic in Langhorne which is where a colleague of mine had surgery. Her doctor transferred to the clinic in Michigan (?) so I know for certain he won't be my surgeon assuming I decide to have surgery. Last week, my gynocologist (who treats me for PCOS) tried to talk me out of having surgery. She said her brother-in-law almost died shortly after his surgery a few years ago, and that he has gained so much weight, he's almost back to his pre-surgery weight. She went on to add that his surgeon had performed less than 50 procedures, and that her brother-in-law was proud of the fact that he could eat potato chips and Doritos just like he had before surgery. My initial thought was "Duh, of course he had problems!" Her argument against surgery is that I will be on a limited diet consisting mostly of protein which is the "way of life" she recommends (and I have tried unsuccessfully for years.) She says I'm not at the "critical stage" meaning I don't have significant health problems because of my weight and my insurance company (Blue Cross/Blue Shield) will probably refuse to cover the cost of surgery. She said I might as well commit to changing my life without surgical intervention because either way the end result will be the same - weight loss and better health - but I won't be risking death if I lose the weight without surgery before my health starts to fail. She wasn't familiar with Barix Clinics, but said I should consider Dr. Wynn in Wilmington if I decide to proceed with surgery. I'm going to the Barix consult with an open mind. Is there anyone here who had surgery at the clinic in Langhorne or is/was a patient of Dr. Wynn? What was your experience? Jade

Hi , I had my surgery done at Barix in Langhorne and had a wonderful experience. My hubby wanted to have his surgery there but they wouldn`t do it because he had a lot of health risks. he had his done in Reading Pa. We live in Millsboro, De , Lower slower. So the trip was kind of long. But the Dr. said we should stop and walk a little after an hour. I have had no problems and I see my family Dr for everything unless I would have a problem with pain in the intesting or belly area. But so far so good. anyway it was a good experience . The nurses were on hand almost right away if you needed them and they really were a big help. We never had to wait long for anything. Good luck on the prelimineries. Lea of Del
