Recipes Anyone?
Hi Fran,
Some of my favorite things while on pureed were:
Shrimp...buy the precooked frozen stuff in the bag ( someone has it on sale this week, Acme maybe? ) Put it in the chopper and add a little mayo, onion and celery and Old bay to taste and beat the heck out of it...shrimp salad! You can also do some ketchup and a bit of horseradish and it makes an excellant shrimp ****tail. FULL of good quality protein yet the taste difference we need sometimes.
I also used the small individual microwave containers of Hormel Chili and Dinty Moore beef stew pureed in the chopper. Good stuff. Refried beans and cheese.
Really check that convenience food aisle at the store. Unless you have high bp I wouldn't worry much about the fat/sodium at this stage because your portions are so tiny. They can do wonders for making the pureed stage fun!

this is my special treat.
1 no sugar fudge popcicle, spread with peanutbutter. It's not original but oh so good.
I also have a book "eating well after weight loss surgery", my kids don't see me using it, but I thought it was time to get back into cooking for myself, since fast food is partly how I got here. Tell me what kind of food your hungry for and I'll see if I can fine anything to help. Hugs....Linda
Hey, Linda,
Your fudgy peanut butter popsicle sounds good to me! I'm hitting Acme as soon as someone comes by to drive me!
I've heard of your book. How many servings do the recipes make in general? After raising 3 kids & being part of a primary family with 6 kids, I don't know how to cook for 1 or 2. Plus I might get in trouble with leftovers, unless they go right into the freezer. I know what you're saying about fast food since it's DEFINITELY part of my problems in the past.
I hope you're feeling well. Let me know about walking this week.
Love & peace,
Fran
Besides my site (I have over 200 wls-friendly recipes at www.bariatricbytes.com) we also have 2 boards with recipes. One is the cooking and baking forum here:
http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/cooking_baking/
The other is the Recipe Forum here:

You can find both again by using the Forums link at the top of the page in the yellow navigation bar.
HTH,

Thanks, Tooter. (I also thanked you via your guestbook on your website. OK, I just can't thank you enough!) I had found the recipe forum but not the baking & cooking forum on OH.
Anyway, I will be counting down the days until I'm on pureed foods, then on regular food. I loved the way you took "normal" food & made it suitable for our special needs. I also appreciate the ways you found to add protein to your diet instead of drinking the recommended protein drinks. (Let me know when you develop your own product line for these. There's definitely a market for protein drinks/puddings that taste good.)

Fran
