need a fill

Help... I desperately need a fill. I had my first fill three weeks ago and am feeling virtually NO restriction. Only thing I haven't been able to eat easily is a bagel (everything else goes down fine). I feel hungry even when I know I shouldn't be. When I got my fill, Dr. Peters told me that I could get another the end of April, but if I wasn't seeing anything with this fill to call and they would get me in. Well, I called today and was told they don't have ANY openings (didn't even give me next week, or anything). I don't want to wait til the 26th as I am not seeing any results. I have been flucuating around 20# lost, but it just goes up and down a pound every few days. I am obviously over eating still since I am not losing. Any suggestions for getting in sooner for my fill (especially since the doc said I could get in).

Patty, did you see if maybe another physician in the group can see you and do your fill? Try that if you have not already. Hang in there! It took me about 3 fills until I finally felt some restriction. Look at the large picture. This too shall pass!

Hey Patty, Not something you want to hear, but try WILLPOWER for a few weeks. Banding doesn't put the same strain on your body that the bypass does, not as much illness, etc... but use the same diet, raise the protein, lower the carbs, cut out sugar, keep the fluids going, don't drink and eat at the same time (flushes food through keeping that hungry feeling going) and keep the portions infant sized. It will be hard I'm sure, but you can do it. For other banders, this is a question I had... since you still have food going through your stomach, does the hungry feeling stop like it does for the gastric bypass patients or does it only restrict the amount you can hold... just curious. HUGS Rachel

Hi Rachel, it actually does a little of both. Our portions are restricted, thus in turn, hunger dissipates quickly.
