I burp everytime I eat or drink anything is it ok. I swear by the time I get my medicine in me, I'm afraid to try and eat anything else. I really think I am more scared now than I was before. I just don't want to do anything to mess it up or hurt myself. Has anyone else gone thru post surgery jitters?...Linda

Well, Linda, burping is the ONE thing I haven't gotten yet. But I know that they pump LOTS of gas into you when you have laproscopic surgery so it's got to get out somehow. I'm still going through the nausea so I'm also scared to try to eat or drink too much. Plus nothing tastes right yet. I swore that the milk was spoiled and insisted on opening another gallon, which tasted as spoiled as the first, at least to me. Anyway, sorry I'm not more help but I hope someone else comes along with better information. Keep in touch, OK? Do you think we'll laugh about these issues next year on our "banniversaries?" Hugs, Fran

Hi Linda, Post surgical jitters are VERY normal. it can kind of freak you out getting used to your body's new noises and sensations. I had bypass not lap band but burping is normal! You have less room in there and when you put something in the new tummy all that displaced air has to go somewhere...you pick a direction Just follow your rules and I'm sure you will be fine. I was scared silly that I was going to break something when I first came home! Linda

I had my bypass surgery last Monday and I can't stop burping. My old stomach is so noisey I was embarressed today at church. I haven't had many post op worries, other then not getting all my fluids in, but other then that I feel great. Good luck, Deanna

Burping, hic-cupping and sneezing are the norm for me now. Lots of noises & other things going on too. I know that you are eating slowly, cause you don't really have a choice when you are so new. Everything smelled or tasted funny to me at first. Boy you are so right about this being scary. Remember the skills classes and sip, sip, sip anything you put in your mouth. Burping is the body's way to get rid of excess air. Take your time and each day gets better. Elissa

Post surgery jitters, I wish that was all it was for me, I walked around wondering why I mutilated my body that way for a week, then went to jitters! Okay, I had bypass not banding, but still, burping happens, it's fun too, you now have an excuse LOL... I know gross, but you'll get used to it, and the gurgles, how many times have I been in a quiet room and EVERYONE heard my gurgles!?!?!?!? HUGS you'll be fine. Rachel
