Hi gang!! What's the skinny on imitation crabmeat? We can eat it, can't we? I love the stuff and had some for lunch today, but while eating it I began thinking about whether or not I should. The brand I had today was Louis Kemp, but normally I get the kind they sell in Sam's Club. As always....THANKS for all your help!!! You're an AWESOME group!!!!

Hi Cathy, I would always rely on actual package information first, but if it's not listed you can search a product like that and get a general idea. Imitation crab is surimi, minced processed fish. Usually no fat, full of protein. A little high on the sodium end but if you don't have issues there I would say go for it! Good stuff and readily available on most salad bars. Surimi info: http://www.calorie-count.com/calories/item.php?item_id=15109&size=2 ( check out the nutritional analysis at the bottom, all sorts of good stuff we are supposed to have ) Here ya go, everything you ever and never wanted to know about surimi http://www.answers.com/surimi&r=67 Hope this helps, Linda

Cathy, I don't see any reason we can't eat it. We each have our favorites. Mine is turkey pepperoni. We need to eat healthy and happy. If you love it , Go for it.See you lighter. Joanne Hammond Obesity Help Chapter Leader.

Cathy, Be careful, because it is high in cholesterol and some have hidden sugars. I have stayed away after reading the nutritional labels. Tess
