I need help fast. I came home today from a barrel race with my husband and was tired and angry. This of course spelled disaster. My daughter made dinner of cheeseburgers, mac and cheese and corn. NOW I AM IN SO MUCH PAIN!!! I threw up a little bit but am still feeling this heavy, nasty feeling. Like the food won't go down. It hurts really bad. I called the doctors office but noone has called me back. What did I do? Will it go away? Am I panicking and should I worry. Oh someone please tell me what to do? HELP!!! Kathy

Hi Kathy, I hope you are feeling better this morning. It happens to all of us at some point. I know I run the risk of being labeled a ***** a know it all, or being judgemental but I have to ask you why you made that particular meal choice at 4 weeks out? Even pureed...it's a heavy, carby, low nutrition choice ( in my opinion ) I realize that we can't always control what someone else chooses to make for dinner but we have to be prepared with an alternative choice if the selection others are having doesn't fit with what we need. I must stress that this will not always be the case, the longer out you are, the less of an immediate concern this is ( getting sick etc ) Please don't take this the wrong way, but the choices you make now are critical in the amount of success you have later. Lots of people have difficulty with hamburger at first, you might want to steer clear of that for awhile or maybe try it again but using some tomato sauce and cheese to make it moister. Macaroni tends to gum up in alot of pouches causing discomfort, especially if it is even slightly al dente, unless it is cooked to absolute mu**** will continue to absorb moisture and expand in the pouch. The best you can do in these situations is to try and avoid them ( not always successfully ) and when they do happen, throw it up or wait it out. Linda

Linda, I don't think this was *****y at all. Good information. It's important for all of us, no matter how far out we are, to make those good food choices, but it's critical during the stage that Kathy's at. Kathy, The best help I can give you is to advise you that the food choices you make now will carry with you for the rest of your life. The pain you felt was your new pouch's way of telling you that you didn't make the best choice. The further out you get, the less your pouch will tell you that, which is why it is SO critical to start making those good food choices now. We all make mistakes and we all learn from them, and we are here to help. Sometimes we don't always want to hear the honest truth, but it's usually in our best interest to do so. Good luck. Kathy, I agree with everyone else. Please don't think you are alone or the first one to do this. Many have done the same thing and don't beat yourself up over this. We all have done enough of this in the past. Remember your stomach is a moving organ. Get up and walk it off. If you move so does your stomach. The more you move the faster this will pass. Welcome to the world of dumping. It gets easier the futher out you get.Remember 1 extra bite could make you dump. Learn from this and move forward. See you lighter. Joanne
