Hi all! Sorry I haven't been on for awhile. Things have been pretty crazy and I have been trying to squeeze in workouts when I can. Yes, I am finally able to work out some but the problem is, I haven't seen any change nor has it gotten me off of a plateau that has lasted since January!! I am really getting very depressed about it!!! My husband keeps reminding me of all the problems I had but that only goes for so long.....I have lost only 40 lbs. since October 2005 which is great but I need to lose so much more and it is not happening. It is like once I finally got my protein level up everything stopped. I have an appt this month with the doc and I plan to ask about it but I have lost the least amount of weight among my "class" and even classes after me. What am I doing wrong?

Joanne, Not sure what weight you came from but the lighter weight people tend to not lose alot. Take the #lbs you lost and see if its 70% of your overweight amount.....See what percentage it is that you lost. Some are slower losers. Check out your exercise routine. If you aren't doing something start to do it now. In the beginning we lose without even exercising but that starts to tail off and we go though the why am I not losing. Perhaps you need to adjust carb eating as well as protein levels. The more exercise you can do the better you are.....1/2 a day is good for starters. When you are not consistent with it the body doesn't know what to do so it holds onto the weight. Try and get me time in the best you can it will only help you. Debbie

Joanne, Going thru depression is normal. The inportant thing you need to look at here is that you are healthy now. Remember you had alot of complications. Most people don't have the complications so STOP comparing yourself to others. You also had less to lose then most so you will lose slower. Hang in there and all will be ok.See you lighter. Joanne, Perhaps if you posted a sample of your daily routine, including exercise, diet, vitamins, fluids, sleep and etc, protein gms, type or name of protein, how much you take at a time, what kind of exercise, what you do for the remainder of your day (work at a computer, nurse, teacher, couch potato etc) we can help you tweek things and/or offer advice if we see something that jumps out at us?

Hi Joanne! I am so sorry that you're struggling. Please stay in prayer and stay encouraged. You've come so far and gone through so much. Don't give up! Keep a journal of everything you eat, drink and do (exercise). Get a pedometer and track your number of steps each day. Make sure you're getting in 64oz of fluid. Perhaps consider getting a personal trainer. Try to reduce any use of white flour or other starches. I once had someone tell me that, when we get stuck, we should go back to the basics for a week (clear liquids and puree). I haven't had to do that but it may work for some people. Whatever you do - don't give up! Something will work. Keep working with the doctor. The answers will come! Take care! Cassandra
