Hi: I'm new to the area and I had my surgery almost a year ago and I was having some gastro intestinal problems. So my surgeon in NY said that I needed to find a gastrointerologist and get an upper endoscopy (like we did for our pre-op stuff)and and abdominal ultrasound, but this gastro doctor should be familiar with people who have had gastric bypass surgery. Does anyone know of such a doctor in the Dover area?? And if he takes Empire BC/BS that would be a plus! Thanks so much for your help! Peace and blessings, Karen

Do you still see your surgeon that performed your RNY? Cause if you're looking to find a surgeon in the area there's my Drs at CHRIAS. They do bariactric surgeries plus internal surgery. Check out their website www.chrias.com Also maybe they could refer someone in the area that's RNY friendly.

Thanks, Dineen. I am supposed to see my surgeon for my one year anniversary but getting to NY may be difficult. I will check out the chrias website as you recommended to see what they have to offer. Thanks again. Karen

Karen, Your primary care physician should be able to help you find a GI Doctor in the Dover area. I work for a PC office in Milford and we refer alot of patients to Dr Kaplan and Dr Lodhavia in Dover. There are others in dover as well, such as Dr Dave and Dr Ramani, but since most Gastric Bypass patients, including myself, who have had gastro problems go back to their surgeons for GI problems. If you don't have a copy of your records from your surgeon, you need to get a copy since this would be very helpful when you do see a GI. Sorry I could not help you more. Freida

Freida: You've been a great help. I am going to an internist on Thursday and I will ask him about the doctors you recommended. Thanks so much for your help! Karen

Karen, My husband had 1/2 of his stomach removed by Dr. Kaplin years ago. I highly recommend him. See you lighter. Joanne Hammond Obesity Help Chapter Leader.
