Hi everyone, I've been reading a lot lately about the benefits of flaxseed in helping with the constipation many of us WLSers experience. Does anyone out there currently use flaxseed, and how do you use it? Everything I've read to date says that fresh ground is the most beneficial - so what's everyone using? If you're using it, please send recipe ideas that we can consume post-op. Thanks!!!!! Cathy

Hi Cathy, I have used flax seed meal for two years now. I use it daily. I put two tablespoons in my oatmeal every morning, and one tblsp. in each of my two daily smoothies. You need to keep it refrigerated but it is really great stuff. I buy it at Trader Joe's, but I notice Super G also carries the same brand. It really does help with constipation and it has a lot of nutrients that are good for the heart. It has a nutty flavor so it works with yogurt and many other things. Try it you might like it. Hi Cathy, I use flax all the time. Sometimes I get it whole and grind it in a coffee/spice mill, sometimes I get it already ground. I throw it in everything from oatmeal to salads to protein shakes. It's extremely versatile and has a nice flavor. It's good in cottage cheese too. It's fabulous for helping you stay regular along with a whole host of other benefits. Go for it! Linda
