I have a couple of questions about recipes. Can I make egg salad pureed..like deviled eggs without the egg whites. I am on the pureed part of the diet. Also, does anyone have any other ideas about what to eat while on the pureed diet? Thanks Kathy

Hey Kathy! I've been thinking about using pretty much any soup that's a decent protein weight pureed is good I had split pea today and added a little unjury to it and it was very yummy. I've also been told any of the salads like egg, tuna, chicken was also good pureed. I on the other hand really want something chewable! If you hear of anything like that let me know!

Hi Kathy and Sunny, I bought an awesome cookbook through amazon it is called Eating Well After Weightloss Surgery. It is really good, it gives you all kinds of receipes from soups to desserts. It also tells you if you are a bypass patient and you are 1-4 weeks out how to prepare it for eating in the pureed form. I love this cookbook and will be using it a lot in the next few weeks as I start to prepare some foods for me to eat when I am post op. Good Luck Deanna

Hi Kathy and Sunny, I am just one month out from RNY and have just completed the pureed phase and I ate alot of soups like split pea and bean soup adding shredded cheese to these helps with taste and boosts protein. I didn't really puree egg salad because it's very soft to begin with and after chewing it, it was pretty much like puree anyway. It went down ok for me but I have heard some people have trouble with eggs this is something you'll have to experiment with. I also liked Corned Beef Hash. Chili pureed with cheese is good and good protein. I hope this helps alittle. Steve McD.

Kathy, Pureed egg salad is fine, as long as it's not too dry. I wouldn't use just the yolk though. The yolk of the egg contains the fat and cholesterol. Add those egg whites, just puree them right along with the yolk. Joni

Kathy, I ate alot of egg salad, mashed potatoes and fat free gravy. My favorite was a fried egg over easy with pan spray. Then ma**** all up. I did have to watch the pepper at this stage. Couldn't do any spices. Have you checked the recipe forum? If not check it out. There is lots of good stuff there. See you lighter. Joanne Hammond OBESITY HELP SUPPORT GROUP CHAPTER LEADER.

Give it a try - it's hard to say if you can tolerate it or not. I had a hard time with eggs and the salad dressing until I was about 3 months out. It's all pretty much experimental at this stage. Just don't give up - if you can't eat it now, try it again in a few weeks. It's amazing how everything changes in such a short period of time. Good Luck!!!!
