Hi guys! I have a concern.. surgery went well and I can home today. Did some sleeping, getting my fluids in and taking the Tyelnol with codeine but now when I checked my temp i'm running at 101.5...is this high enough to be concerned about?

Hey Rae, On our discharge papers there is a number for becoming concerned about your temp. So far mine has been staying under 100. I have been doing really well. Took a couple of naps but nothing major. I have been having muscles spasms but that is it. They can hurt pretty good too. Let me know how it goes Kathy

Good morning-- I forget what the actual parameter was from the docs, but as a nurse and bypass patient, I would say to report any abnormal temp to the doctors and let them decide if it is something to be concerned about. Some temp elevations after surgery can be normal, while others may be signalling an early problem. Best to let the professionals decide. Temps can go down in the morning and up in the evening, too. Are you having any other symptoms, like pain or discomfort? In any case, I would notify the doctors and let them decide. They would much rather hear from you for a false alarm, than not to hear from you and have a problem that may be easily solved get missed. Hope this helps and hope you are feeling ok-- Sue
