I'm back after an unexpected side trip!!

Hi All my WLS Buddies, I haven't been around for the last couple of weeks because I was busy falling apart medically!! I had a steadily worsening pain in my left lower abdomin so I called Irgau's office. They said to check with my plastic surgeon first since that was just done 2 months ago. After meeting with my PS, Dr Saunders, I was told to call Irgau's office again and make an appointment because it might be a hernia. I got an appointment with Dr. Jadaly(sp?) who thought it might be an ulcer and a hernia. Friday March 3 I had a catscan and EGD. Monday they scheduled me for laproscopic, exploratory, abdominal surgery because they were not sure what it was. Meanwhile the pain was getting almost unbearable. I woke up from surgery with a huge 8 in*****ision on my abdomin and found out that they (both Irgau and Jadaly operated) had to repair 3 internal hernias and tack them to my abdominal wall so they wouldn't attack themselves again!! Seems the small intestines had gone for a walk away from their normal spot because no fat was there to stop them. They then pushed against other parts of the intestines and caused holes in them. No wonder I was feeling REALLY bad! Moral of the story is DO NOT IGNORE A BAD PAIN!! I'll be able to go back to work in 2 weeks but I can't exercise for 2 more months!!! I never had an open surgery before and it is pretty draining but I will be back!! I miss you all. Love, Kathleen

Holy Hernias Batman!!!! Glad you're all better! I remember you mentioning the pain at the last meeting but you didn't talk like it was that bad. That's good advice you gave about not ignoring pain. You need to take it more often! LOL Ah well, live and learn. Glad you're ok now.
