Hello Everyone, Well my BIG day is approaching and I have been busy with my last appointment with Dr. Bianci and my pre op. Everything went great up until I talked to the anesthesiologist. I am so scared. They are telling me that my esophagus and mouth are small and they may have to insert the breathing tube while I am still awake...sedated but awake...I have been thinking about it constantly and just can't believe it. I just had surgery in June of 05 and they never had any problems. So whats up with this..everyone tells me that due to the sedation I won't remember it and won't even care but yea right...I feel sick just thinking about it right now. I can deal with the rest of it but that. What should I do? Has anyone else had this issue? Help!!! Soon to be joining you on the loosing side Kathy

Be strong, Kathy. You have a good, experienced surgeon. She won't let anything happen to you. You will be relaxed, like when they did the EGD. No problem. You can handle it. I will send you good thoughts. Scott

Hi Kathy, Hang in there. I am sure they will be making you as comfortable as possible. Remember, the what if is ALWAYS scarier than the what is. Trust me, you will come through this just fine. Oh and on a side note, when you are safely home again, you can make up a really good surgery battle story for your hubby and he will give you some extra special care! Notice I say you have to make it up...that's because it will be smooooth sailing all the way through! Take a deep breath and try to relax, you're on the home stretch of being a big ole looser! Linda

When I was pregnant, I had to get scoped with just a local because of the baby. The stuff they sprayed down my throat to numb it tasted nasty, but it really wasn't that bad. I'm sure yours will go just as smoothly. Stay calm and look towards the future and a slim, trim new you.
