Hello All, I am Newbie and living in Dover. I have finally gotten up the courage to do what I have been wanting for the past five years...get rid of this weight. I know that I have to do something because I have two small children ( 3 yo and 5 months) that I want to see them grow up. I really am amazed at the pre op and post op photos here and want to say to you all, regardless of how much you have lost I believe you are all beautiful and fighters in my book and now that I have decided to this I need help. I am a fighter but I want to try to walk through a hurdle before it can even begin. So here are my stats: 5'3" and 237.5 pounds Do I even stand a chance of getting Tricare to pay for this and if so how does the process work? I want to get started as soon as possible as my husband deploys for Iraq in August.

Hi Erica, I don't have any info about Tricare to help you but I did want to say hello and welcome you to the Delaware board. First thing I would advise, call Tricare directly and find out what their policy is on the surgery and any specific requirements they may have. have you decided on a doc, or still looking? Do you have any means of going the self pay route if your insurance won't cover? Do you have any option to change plans if it won't cover? Just some things to think about, but I'm sure you've already been there in your mind at LEAST 100 times Good luck and keep us posted about your progress. Linda

Hi Erica, Me again lol. I clicked the insurer link at the top of the page and came up with some info about Tricare and people who have used it for bariatrics. Hope this helps. http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/members/list-insurers.php?State=DE&alphaPos=T Linda
