I went to see Dr. Wynn today for my regular checkup. I have been somewhat disappointed since I haven't lost any weight since December. To my disbelief, Dr. Wynn informed me that she thought I was through with losing weight. She said the average person looses 80% of there excess weight and I have lost 73% which only amounts to 60 pounds for me. Has anyone else had a plateau that lasted for two months. I eat right and exercise regularly. Thanks for any input. Kim S

Hi Kim, Don't be bummed cause' it ain't over till it's over...and it might not een be over then! I have a few questions I would ask: 1. Are you food journaling so that you know exctly what you're eating. Yes, good habits take over and we learn to eat right. Having said that, it's also very common to get a bit lazy and grazy as time goes on and we don't always take everything into account. Actually, you may be too LOW and need to up something. 2. Are you watching your protein intake to make sure you are getting enough. 3. Are you watching your fluid intake? Your body will hang on stubbornly if you're not getting enough. 4. Are you changing up your menu and exercise routine. We get in a rut and our bodies become accustomed to working at a certain and way and a certain level, you have to change things up every so often to keep things moving. Last but not least, how do you FEEL? Don't let yourself fall into the trap of a certain number on a scale. How are your clothes fitting? Are you measuring to see if your inches are changing? That happens all the time when you have an exercise program, muscle weighs more than fat but takes up less space. I am 2 years out this month and recently had a 10 pound spurt of a weight loss. Work the program and don't let a number or idea dictate your progress! Percentages shmentages You are doing a great job. Keep on keepin' on! Linda

Thanks Linda for the advice. I went over my journals and the only thing I can see is too many calories in my protein shakes. I have been getting 90 grams of protein from shakes which amount to 395 calories. Thanks again. Kim S

Kim if I do the math you are doing 7 shakes a day???? Or are you looking at calories for the week???? Something else you might want to look at is your exercise intensity...Have you been putting in more time with exercise and working the body? Are you still doing the same routine you did a few months ago? If so it might be time for a change. My protein shake intake is one daily. Although I am further out and can eat most foods so I can get my protein in other sources. I only do the shake in AM......Its a quick breakfast for me then run to work! (in a car of course LOL).

Hi Debbie: I use Isopure Chocolate Shakes. A serving consists of 2 scoops, 12 oz. of water, 210 calories, 50 grams of protein. On a daily basis I mix 3 scoops, 18 oz. of water, 305 calories, 75 grams of protein. I break the shake up into three servings morning, noon, and 3:00. In addition I eat a Healthwise chocolate pudding for my evening snack which is 85 calories, 15 grams of protein. I am taking in this much protein because I have not been able to increase my protein levels above 13. Finally with the increase in shakes they are at 17. Up until the end of December I was going to Curves. I was still losing weight when I quit Curves. For the last ten weeks I started a new routine with 30 minutues of cardio and weight training 4 x per week. Since I started, I haven't lost anything. The trainer told me that he thought I was working to hard and needed to cut back. He feels I am not eating enough for the amount of exercise I am doing and my body is in starvation mode. I personally think this is crazy. I am going to take his advice and cut back to 20 minutes of cardio, weight training 3 x per week. Thank you so much for your help. Kim S

Kim, what other foods do you have during the day besides the shakes and the pudding? Are you counting the calories and protein in them? Mix up your protein count and exercise and you should see a difference. I have heard even taking a few days off the exercise helps with loss. Our bodies are so funny. You think you figure out how to lose the weight and bam, it adapts and you have to find another way. Take care Debbie
