HELP.....A SICK PRE OP

Hi everyone, I am 1 month from my WLS and I am think I have the flu or a really bad cold. I know I can only take products with acetaminophen in them because of the upcoming surgery. Does anyone know of a cough syrup I can take. I can't stop coughing and it is killing my chest. I have an appointment tommorrow with the MD at PMRI and I am hoping he can give me something to take, if not does anyone know of a medicine that I am allowed to take? Please help, I feel like a DART bus ha**** me a dozen times....lol. Thanks, Deanna

Hi Deanna, That very thing happened to me! I had the cold from Hell 3 weeks before my surgery and was afraid I'd be cancelled. Boy talk about stress! I saw my primary and was given some antibiotics just incase..I think I ended up with over the counter Tylenol cold and some Robitussin for the cough. The doc tomorrow will steer you in the right direction. I wouldn't take anything until you clear it with them first. Don't worry, rest and take good care of yourself and I'm sure you will be heading off to the OR in fine shape! Don't be surprised however if you develop a cough post-op. I think most of us did and it hung on for a little while. Linda

You know i'm only giving you a hard time.......i haven't talked to you in a while, and just had to bust your chops. I am at work Joe, which really stinks because if I leave today I will lose my bonus, so here I sit. Audrey went to the store to get me some medicine so hopefully that will help. My breast bone is killing me from all the hard coughing I have been doing. I am going to be off tomorrow though since I was here on Tuesday. Deanna

Hey Buddaflycatcherdude...BITE ME! lol I might be at the PMRI on the 18th..hopefully I will be able to make it. Unless I have a surgery date that interferes somehow. I bet they make us sit on opposite sides of the room too
