Hi everyone, The doctor called me yesterday afternoon and said the preliminary results are in, they want to do another slide or two in the lab to make sure but I have been referred out to a surgical oncologist in Wilmington. His name is Dr. Bennett, and will be handling the next step of my treatment. I see him on March 3rd. We had this surgery to improve LIFE and that's exactly what I intend to do. They are saying at this point that it is low grade and not aggressive and I'm optimistic about my recovery. To any preops out there that are scared just let me say this. Gastric bypass saved my life once already, I no longer have high blood pressure and out of control diabetes. I firmly belive that in a round about way, gastric bypass just potentially saved my life a second time...if I hadn't had the surgery, I wouldn't have been as active, I would have chalked knee pain up to being fat and most likely wouldn't have had it checked out until it was too late. I'm still young, I'm in good overall health now and have a much better chance of doing what I need to do to fight this thing. Listen to your body and to your instincts. Do everything you can to support your new, positive healthy lifestyle, and enjoy every single day that you are given! I may face a few unique challenges by being a bypass patient and having to deal with this, but I know I can do it. With my family behind me and my totally AWESOME WLS support family, I can't fail! You have a plan! That is always a very good thing to have in any situation. Keeping positive helps alot too! I know its not the news you wanted but at least its something you can do something about and that in itself is GREAT NEWS! You are right about the WLS saving lives. We are more in tune with our bodies these days and its a good thing! Life is all about change....its how we deal with it! Sometimes we have to look at that as well as our physical side. You have a good blend of both my friend! I will be rooting for you! Hugs and Fleece Blankets Debbie
