Food and Mood
Okay somewhere I heard foods can affect our mood. I wanted to know if anyone here could point me in the direction of finding out how different foods can affect our mental state. Does anyone know where I can find this type of information.
Yes I am thinking the funk mood is something I am eating.....It can also be something eating at me too! But I want to go with the first scenario. Its the easier one I think???
I hope you all have a great weekend. Gram is still ill but out of the hospital right now. No one wants to operate until she is all checked out. She has had a brain tumor most of her life and apparently there are some changes to it right now....They don't want to take the chance of putting her under and her not waking up. The obstruction in the bowel is still there and of course until they test her to death they won't touch that. Please keep her in your prayers. Its a damn if you do and damn if you don't situation.
Off to the gym, see her and get her some foods in the house, 50th birthday party tonight, make reservations for flights for vacation...I am almost there I feel it!

Hi Debbie,
I am a firm believer in what we eat affecting our moods. If you stop and think about it, food is really the ultimate natural medication. It can heal or harm depending on what the quality of the foods we choose. With all the information now on superfoods and what they can do for us, I really think nutrition is more 'medical' than ever.
Carbs stimulate seratonin, which I'm sure you know is the chemical that is released in our bodies to calm us. Slow acting carbs vs. quick fix simple carbs...slower 'fix' but better in the long run with less rebounding and having to deal with the crash and wanting more part.
I would not only take a look at what you're eating ( easy for you since you're journaling again yay! ) but the quality of what you're eating. Maybe some added chemicals in something that you are reacting to. Maybe try organic versions of foods that you like?
Your level of awareness of what's going on in your body is a good thing! remember, that can be a double edged sword for people like us ( meaning people with food issues regardless of WHAT those issues may be ) and we can get so caught up in looking for reasons that sometimes we forget that some things just 'are' if that makes any sense.
Keep on with your search. You are very successful Debbie. Give yourself credit where credit is due. You have really entered into this whole adventure with your whole heart and mind and are looking all the stuff lots of us don't want to deal with right in the face. That takes guts to soul search like that!

Good idea with the organic food options...chemicals are all around and I have been doing alot of fresh veggies and fruits. hmmmm. Perhaps there are some pesticides I have become more sensitive to these days since there aren't massive quantities of other things going in and diluting the ****tail! I go shopping today so lets see how I can improve I grocery choices! And thank you for the vote of confidence! And perhaps I am over analyzing things...could this be a transferrence of my addiction to food? YIPES! Have a great day!
One thing I am definitely doing is upping my fats...I need to get rid of this dry skin stuff....Can you say yucky! I am the lotion queen and even lotions aren't helping!
