Hey all, I would like to tell you all that I am a medical mystery..LOL I have been having some problems lately. For about 2 weeks i Have been experience rapid heartrate, when just sitting still and slight dizzyness when standing up. I saw the Doc and the hospital(st. Francis), they said maybe not enough fluids. So i increaed my fluids. All blood work and EKG were good. Then last Sat i was out shopping and almost passed out, my ears closed up i could barely see and felt like i was going to hit the floor, I could feel myslef start to panic on the inside. I have no history of panic attacks. I went and sat in the car got some air and drank some MORE fluids,...i came around fairly quickly. Was just weak/tired the rest of the day, i rested the next two days. On Wed night/early Thur morning, i had another lil eopisode. I was laying in bed, out of no where i statrted to sweat real bad, room was spinning and my heart was really going, i went to the kitchen and got a drink which i knew i shouldnt but i gozzled (sp?) it down like 8+oz, and i started to uncontrollable stuff my face with the first thing i saw Doritos, it was like i couldnt control myself, like if i didnt eat/drink i was going to pass out. Similar to how you feel when your PMSin' and you will kill for a candybar. That same feeling. I went and sat down in the living room, clutching the chip bag, haha. Again out of no where i statred to shake, my whole body was shaking my legs where kicking up and down, my b/f kept asking me what was wrong and i kept saying i dont know. but i couldnt stop. He insisted i go the hospital, and this too is not like me, i began to cry and beg him not to make me go. I normally don;t cry, but it was like emotional meltdown. so anyhow i went to the ER, they did blood work not sure what all they did, but i do know that Thyroid was normal, everything else they did was normal too, but they said that my EKG was slightly abnormal and they couldnt say weather or not it was a fluck on their machine (which they did say it might be) I am suppose to have a echocardiogram done. I sat in the ER for 6 hrs and got no real answers, I was lets just say less then pleased. So thats whats new with me. YES, i take all my vitz and protein shakes I have lost about 70lbs Christina

Christina, Sounds like it could be low blood sugar. I had a couple of episodes of this on vacation and I NEVER want to go through that again. Fortunate for me, a family member was there and saw the signs and took my blood sugar count. I was down to something like 63. She was concerned when I started really shaking. Could be that is what you had happen and after the Doritos your sugar level went back up, thus why the hospital didn't find the low level. My suggestion to you would be to talk with the doctor about this posibility and keep a close eye on your levels. What helped me to level back out was to make sure I kept my body fed ... but not just fed, but fed appropiately. Protein every 3-4 hours (no negotiating for me) Complex carbs second if I had room NO SUGAR - NO SIMPLE CARBS Plenty of fluids (even slight dehydration cause heighten the symptoms). I did buy a package of peanut butter crackers and I keep them on me at all times to use in the event of an "emergency". But I choose not to use them if at all possible cause they do tend to throw me right back into the spike and low blood sugar thingy again, but to a lessor degree. However, they have saved me a couple of times when things were dropping too low. I have since gotten a blood sugar monitor and my level are so unbelieably level with the formentioned diet. I run about 80-85 all the time now. Don't play around with this Christina ... it can be serious! Take good care of yourself!

Thanx for the reply, yeah i agree seemed to me it was low blood sugar too, Your body just knows these things. The doc at the ER said "That's a good guess..butttt.......I don't think so" Not only that BUT he atced as if it was all in my head talking to me like I was about to eat him or something..HHAHA I laugh about it cause not much else I can do, i kinda felt like that 270lbs person again that everyone looks at funny, do you know what i mean?? But I will definately keep a closer eye on myself. Christina

Hi Christina, You may want to see a cardiologist for this. I started with the same symptoms in 1999 and my doctor thought my blood sugar was bottoming out, but it continued. I ended up in the hospital, because they were trying to determine if I had had a heart attack. What they discovered was a condition called atrial tachycardia. Some folks have something similar called atrial fibrillation. Anyway, it's an electrical problem with the heart that just popped up on me from out of nowhere. There is medicine you can take to control it. There's also a procedure called a cardiac ablation that can burn off the extra electrical impluses. But definitely get a good cardiogolist to check you out. I had to wear a monitor for a month and then I had to record the event each time I experienced one. I too, like you was completely drained after an episode. Take care & let me know how you make out. I don't know where you live, but if you live in the Dover area, Delaware Cardiovascular Assoc. is great. Drs Rippert, Singh and Abrescia are wonderful. I see Dr. Singh, but have seen Dr. Rippert and she's great too!
