shoulder pain

Hi everybody, I was wondering if anyone is experiencing what I am. My surgeon put me on a walking schedule starting at 3 min. and adding 1 min. every three days. Since I got to 5 min. I notice a lot of pain in my shoulders. I no longer have pain in my back or knees which is wonderful, but my shoulders hurt something awful when I walk. Today was a beautiful day, and I actually took two 10 min. walks outside. Again, it was the shoulders that hurt. I am baffled by this. Any ideas why this could be? Thanks! Rosa

Hmmm did you have a laproscopic RNY? Anthestia (sp?) takes a while to leave the system and with a lap surgerical procedure I was told that the gas escapes through the shoulder area. Not sure why and perhaps someone with more medical knowledge could explain this. It will improve. How is everything else for you? Debbie

Hi Debbie, I had the laproscopic RNY. That's interesting about the gas escaping through the shoulder area. I didn't know that. I see Dr. Wynn next Friday and will make sure to ask her about it. Otherwise, I am doing great. I haven't felt so good in years. This surgery is an amazing thing! Hope you are doing well too. Hugs, Rosa

Rosa, Congradulations on your walking. I knew you could do it. My shoulders also hurt when I walk but not as bad as before surgery. I thought it might be from posture. I know I catch myself walking bent over. We had to learn how to walk over. We are used to the extra weight pulling us over. See you lighter. Joanne Hammond OBESITY HELP CHAPTER LEADER.
