Overeating?
I feel like I may be overeating going off of numbers. I can eat about 1 1/2 - 2 oz. of meat and 1/2 cup of soup or something, I usually make sure I eat it over half an hour or 45 mins. I read everyone else's post and they're saying they're struggling to eat 1 oz. of food! I don't feel full after I'm done, but I feel satisfied. I have felt full before, so I kinda know what it feels like. And all my foods are pureed. I am worried about stretching my pouch without even knowing, and also I want to make sure I'm adequately losing weight. I really don't want to fail at this. So confused....help! Also, does anyone have the number for Michell? She's the bariatric coordinator (i think) that comes to see you before you get discharged.
April
April honey, it's OK! You're still very early out of your surgery. It took me awhile to "read" my pouch. As long as your measuring your portions, you should be just fine. Make sure you're eating every 2-3 hours, and be sure that you wait 30 minutes before & after a solid meal to drink. You don't feel things in your pouch because of the trama of the surgery itself. There's still swelling and stuff that your body has to deal with before it can start sending those hungry/full signals again. It can take up to 12 weeks for your body to fully recover from major surgery. Just hang in there. Make sure you measure everything that go into your mouth, keep a journal of your eating, stick to a schedule, and be sure you drink plenty of fluids. Take your vitamins and last but not least, WALK! As much as you can. Keep posting!
april if you are eating pureed foods the amount you are eating is because the soup is more like fluid than solid food atleast that is what my nutritionist told me i think you are doing just fine if you feel like you are eating to much and you are that concerned about it give your dr a call and ask them if what your eating is ok just to put your mind at ease don't beat yourself up about this ok your friend vickie
