I have a question about the protein drinks. I bought some powder stuff from GNC in a silver box does anyone else know drink it? It is called Isopure. I kind of tasted it and ugghh that stuff is nasty. Is there any way to make it taste better? I want to make sure I get my protein and stuff after my surgery. What other liquids are recommended for the first two weeks? Oh by the way I have a tentative date..if the Dr. Wynn is available...MARCH 9th....I am sooo excited yet apprehensive...I am keeping my fingers crossed Dr. Wynn will be available. I am calling her office on Monday...

I put the protein powder in Cream of Wheat, Oatmeal, Soups. In soups I also add cheese (cream soup I make with Skim milk for added protein. Unflavored protein powder in Crystal lite is also pretty good. Hope this helps.....

Kathy, Are you lapband or RNY? Did you do nutrition classes yet? They would tell you your eating protocol. Each of the programs are a little different and with the different doctors there are variations of what we can and cannot do for our diet. Please check with the doctor to see about the cream of wheat...although I think I was eating that in my full liquid phase (3 weeks out). Lapbands may be different. I did not do any homework there but Sharon Hollis would know. Protein drinks...in the beginning you are going to find it hard to get it all in...the first week you will probably be lucky with a few ounces every few hours. You won't feel like eating but you have to. The main thing to push the first few weeks is fluid. Get tha****er in! You will be able to work the protein in once you get a system in place with your eating times. Its hard in the beginning but it starts to become easier after a week....Good luck with your new journey! Debbie

Hello Debbie, I am going to have the RNY. I see the dietician on the 10th but want to make sure I do my "homework" as Maryellen calls it...lol. My brother in law just had it done about 7 weeks ago and he said the same thing. I guess my biggest fear is the hair loss..not that I can't afford to loose some as my hairdresser says. Thank you for all your helpful information. It is very appreciated. Kathy

Hi Kathy: The dutch chocolate Isopure is the only protein I drink. I mix one scoop (25 grams) with one packet of chocolate Health Wise (15 grams). You can purchase the Health Wise from Dr. Wynn's office or PMRI. Good luck on your weight loss journey. Kim S

The only protein powder I use is Unjury (www.unjury.com). I mix it with sugar free Hot chocalate, or milk/light yogurt and frozen fruit. I also mix it with oatmeal every morning. 1 scoop is 20 gm of Protein. Hope this helps. You need to play aroung with the powders and DO NOT buy a lot before surgery. Your tastes will most likely change. Good luck!!!!!!
