re: Happy to be Home
Hi all. Got home on Friday. So good to be home. Gonna miss that hospital, the nurses really anticipated your needs before you had one.
Therapy is intense. Occupational therapy was very informative. You know what the 1st thing I did when I got home was to jump on the scale. I guess the new titanium knees weigh more than arthritic bones cause I gained 2 lbs. Good news is my BMI changed cause I'm now 1/2" taller. I tried to get the doc to add some extensions to my height. He told me it'd look funny with 6" added to my legs. I would be out of porportion. Can't help but try, nothing to loose.
Charlie has really been an Angel. I can waddle around pretty good with the help of the walker. But you still need someone to fetch & get stuff. Warm up soup. Get dinner ready. Get that cold glass of water. He has been mixing up my protein drinks for the past 2 wks. I am so blessed to have such a great guy.
My brother and sister-in-law from Texas got here Saturday. No problems there. Trying to get Brandy, a nurse, to get these god-awful staples out of my knees a couple days early. They are pulling and itchy and it's really hard to get comfy. The visiting nurse stops by today. Looks like Wednesday is the earliest. I keep telling these guys how healthy I am and how getting in soooo much protein helps you heal faster.
I do get tired easy. So I'm going back to the chair and relax for awhile. TT you all soon. ((HUGS)) Elissa
Glad you are home and doing so well Elissa . Take care and we all look forward to seeing you back amongst your WLS buddys! I just started an exercise regimen at the Y and it has been rough so I can only imagine the intensity of your therapy since you just had both knees replaced!
