tummy tuck question???

During pre surgical screening< Dr Wynn found that I have a hernia around my belly button. I ask her if they would take care of it during the gastric bypass and she said no. She mentioned something about a tummy tuck later on. Has anyone experienced a similar thing?? I'm thinking that Dr Wynn is hoping that if I wanted a tummy tuck that the hernia issue would help insurance wise. Any thoughts?? Bonnie S.

Bonnie, I developed a hernia after surgery and my Dr. was happy. He said it is a free ticket to a tummy tuck. Most insurances will not pay for a tummy tuck but they will pay for a hernia repair. Both surgeries can be done at the same time so the insurance company will pay for it. I am getting mine done in May. See you lighter. Joanne

Hi Bonnie, I too have a hernia so that is my ticket to my tummy tuck without approval problems so be glad they did not repair it because then you would have to prove medical necessity such as rashes, odor, etc. Prycey Lady RNY 2/2/05 373/213/??
