Hi Everyone, Thanks so much for all your love and support. I had my surgery on 1/24 and it is now 1/28. Wow, 4 days. I don't mind telling you that there were times I wondered if I had made the right choice, but I know I did. I know a lot of people have had it much worse than I. But it is good to be back home. Karen was supposed to update everyone, but she spent most of the time in the hospital with me. She only left when they kicked her out. She has been a true blessing. I don't know how anyone can go through this alone. It's been a rough road, but I know it will only get better. I feel like I have a rock in my stomach most of the time, but I am eating only clear liquids and sipping water. Tomorrow (actually today) I will be able to start on baby food. Yum Yum. I can not believe I am so looking forward to baby food! You all are such a wonderful support and I do so appreciate all you have done for me and responding to my posts. Big hugs, Rosa

Hi Rosa! So glad you did so well on your surgery day! My day went off with no problems and Dr. Irgau said everything went as planned. I think I saw you walking out in the halls.....i'm a night owl, so I did most of my strolls late at night/early morning when everyone else was sleeping, then I did all my sleeping during the day! I think I had a reaction to Tylenol w/Codeine on Tuedsday night, so they opted to keep through Wednesday night and I was discharged Thursday. So glad everything went well for you! All hail to pureed food! I start mine today also. This site has answered so many of my questions already, so they are truly a blessing. Good luck! April

Hello Rosa, I am so glad to hear you are feeling better. So tell me everything I need to expect right after surgery while it is still fresh in your memory. What hurts? What doesn't hurt? How long is the surgery usually? Did you have it done at Christiana? I am excited yet scared and I don't even have a surgery date yet..lol. I go for my sleep test on Wednesday and Thursday I go back to the Cardiologist to hopefully get my clearance. I am hoping to have surgery by the end of Feb beginning of March... Happy you are doing well Kathy

Hi Roda, I think we all go through the feeling of is this the right choice. "Did I just make the biggest mistake" I know I did mainly my first week, but it is all natural. You will do wonderful, just think, pretty soon you will be putting up your own WOW moments. Christie

Hang in there Rosa - it gets better every day. I spazzed out a lot when I first came home because I couldn't get my protein in, and I wasn't getting enough fluids, but you will. I'm 5 months out, and some days I almost forget I ever had the surgery. I'm always counting my protein and fluid intake (either in my head or in a journal), that way I know exactly what I've got to do next. Those things that seem like such a chore now become almost second nature. Keep walking and sipping!!!!
