Hi everyone....hope that everyone is well!! I finally saw my pcp today to get a referral to see a bariatric surgeon!! She recommended the group in Newark- Dr. Iragua, Dr. Wynn.......anyway...I called to make an appointment and the lady (who was very nice) took all of my information. She then told me that Dr. Wynn could be my doctor. But, get this...........I have to wait until NEXT WEE****il someone will even call me with an appointment date!!!!!! Is this weird or is this normal? Did anybody else have to wait just to get an appointment? How long did you wait to get an appointment to see the surgeon? I have read some profiles and some say that they have waited 6 months or so!!! Is this normal?????? It seems strange to me...anyway...all feedback is wonderful!!!! thanks so much.........shaughnessy

Hi Shaughnessy, I waited 6 months for an appt with Dr. Wynn. I think right now the office is a little short staffed. They are definitely awesome, caring people and well worth the wait! Take care! Lisa

Hello, sorry to have the bad news, but that is normal to have a wait to get in to see them for the first time. But it will go quicker then you think, I had to wait 4-5 mts. Hope it all works out for you. They are a wonderful bunch of doctors to have to wait for though. Christie

Once you get your first appointment, things will go quickly then. I had my first appointment in March and then could have had my surgery in May but I waited until June since I work in a school and I wanted to have the summer off. It will be worth the wait. Use the time to get as much information as you can. This site is a great source for that. Good Luck Ellen

Ellen....thanks for the response!! I am hoping that I will not have to wait too long....I am a school bus driver and really want this surgery done at the middle of June....so I will not have to take time off!! I am crossing my fingers and my toes and my eyeballs (ha ha) and praying that I can do that!!! Did you have all of your testing and everything else done before you met with your surgeon === or did things just run smoothly? Did you go to CHIAS? I dont have any testing done except an echo cardio gram that I had already had done this past August....hopefully things will fly along...... shaughnessy

Shaughnessy, I had my surgery by Dr. Irgau ( with Dr. Peters help). They always have two doctors in the OR. Dr. West was off on Maternity leave at the time. I went right home after my first meeting with Dr. Irgau and start setting up my appointments. They all seemed to fall into place. I sure felt lucky. You don't have to use the doctors they recommend, but it makes it so much easier because they know exactly what papers to fill out and how to write the letters to help you get approved by your insurance. I have a feeling that the EKG you did in August will be too old for summer surgery.
