Topics for Support Meetings
WOW after getting into some of these posts I see lots of topics popping out at me.....
Exercising properly would be a good one. How to start out....to build on to a routine....Perhaps should people how to stretch during the meeting. Have everyone dress for a little stretching session. And of course we could have a Barney shake for snack! (Hint to Dwight)
Food Planning.....How to make your day possible with the proper foods and planning it. I know I don't really do this fully and would love ideas how people are doing it.
The Vitamins needed by our bodies further out from surgery....what is good and bad for us. How much do we need. Where can we get the best buys for it. I am all about saving a buck!
Foods....what are you really eating and is it really helping you. A food critic session with a list of foods not necessarily consumed by anyone individual and go over them to get feedback of how they can help/hurt you in your new lifestyle....(I refuse to use the word DIET)
Well group leaders I am sure that there are more topics but I thought this was a good start and hope it helps.
See you all soon at a support group near you!
Debbie
Debbie, Funny you should mention this. It just so happens that at my support group in Harrington on Thursday , January 19th I am having my physical theropist come to talk about the inportance of exercise after surgery. Deanna has had gastric bypass surgery herself. She was one of 5 that had it at Beebe Hospital. Should be a very interesting meeting with lots of information. She helped me so much and I could really communicate with her for she has been there herself and knows our daily struggles. She looks good !!! Also I have free samples of a couple of goodies I got just for asking. Please feel free to come on down and join us . It should be an interesting meeting and she can answer alot of your Questions. See you lighter. Joanne
