First Night at the Y
Hi all, Last night I went to the Y in Rehobeth. I had a one on one with a trainer. I was expecting some Hunk that I wouldn't feel comfortable with. Well to my surprise the trainer was a senior citizen. This man was very fit and took the time to do 3 reps with me on all the machines. He even told me he would help me any night he was there. So friendly and I wasn't intimidated. Oh the killer: It was mirrored and I looked so SMALL in my work out cloths. I couldn't beleive that was me. ( I'm by no means small) but 117 lbs lighter. I was there from 6:30- 9:00 p.m . O.K. Yes I am a little sore today but I will go tonight and just do cardio. My goal: to take care of me in 2006. See all lighter. Joanne
Joanne,
Remember Rome was not built in a day....a goal with exercise is not to be sore but to feel like you have done something. If you are just starting out...take it easy and build up. Please don't over do it...If you hurt all the time you won't want to do the exercising. I really am glad you are doing well! I do like your remark on the mirror and the small in work out clothing!!! You are committed and will succeed! I am rooting for ya!
Debbie
Debbie, You are a day late ( AS usual) !!! My legs , arms and shoulders are killing me. One of the weight lifters at work told me to let the muscles rest for a week and go back. I told him I will do cardio and muscles every other day. He is going to give me a work out plan. I can't wait a week. That seems like they would hurt all over again. Tonight I will do lifting again and see how I make out. See you lighter. Joanne
Joanne,
I don't think I was LATE....You didn't ask how to do the work out....you worked out first then told me about the problem.....I think you were LATE this time. LOL. Any who....lets get into this exercise thing a bit. I agree with the trainer...if you are hurting you are only going to hurt them more....remember when you are lifting weights you are tearing down the muscle so it can rebuild itself. The magic word is tear! In order for it to rebuild it cannot be torn too much. Which sounds like you did. Do the cardio but take a few days off the weights. When you go back to it do it at lower weights than you did the first time. (10-15 lbs lower will help) Then build up....it takes a few weeks to get into the groove. You got the spirit and the drive....keep going girl!
Debbie
Debbie, O.K. I'll give you that one !!! I never heard of tearing down your muscle . Is that how it works? Stupid Me !!! I did lift again last night. It was 2 days. I can't get much lower then I am doing. They close early on the week end so I can't go bac****il Monday anyway so that will give my muscles 3 days. I am going to lift Monday , Wednesday and Friday. Cardio Monday thru Friday and every other Weekend. How does that sound??? I love a bargain so I don't want to pay and not go !!! See you lighter. Joanne
