I have been having a ton of trouble with my ins co approving my surgery and I have starting thinking that maybe God is trying to close this door for a reason. I am not certain...need to pray more. Anyway, while I have been in waiting, I have been checking out the diff types of surgery and have recently become interested in learning more about the lap band surgery. I read that it is recommend more for women who want to have more children...and that is me. So, I would love to hear your stories, pros and cons and what led you to make the decision to have lap band surgery. Any input would be greatly appreiciated. Thanks. Robyn

Hi Robyn. I had lap band surgery roughly three months ago, on 9/3/2005, so I don't have too much experience of which to speak. However, I love it and recommend it. I am down 34 lbs and feel wonderful. My blood pressure has been phenomenal and I am hoping to go off meds. ( I see my DR tomorrow). Keep in mind, however, that the lap band is just a tool and not the cure all. You still have to make wise food choices. Also, weight loss with a band is not as quick as with bypass. In fact, it is A LOT slower. The best part for me, so far, is actually getting a FULL feeling and for the first time in my life (drum roll)............I throw food away!!! This has been the most exciting part for me, I think! LOL I hope that I helped you. Feel free to e-mail me should you have any questions.

Hi Carla, I am glad to hear you are doing well with your lap band surgery. I plan on having it in a couple of months. I have my 2nd appt with Dr. Irgau this up coming week and I am eager to get the ball rolling. Who did your surgery? Do you know of any support group meetings coming up? I live in Oxford, Pa and work in Chadds Ford. Please let me know. Thanks
