The dreaded return of my appetite
It's been a while since I've posted but all of my DE Message Board buddies have been in my prayers.
In a few weeks, I'll reach my 1 year surgery anniversary (Jan 3rd). I can't believe it's already been a year! When I went in for my surgery, I weighed 340 pounds and wore a size 32. Now, I weigh 175 pounds and wear a size 12. God is awesome!
I don't have much loose skin so I doubt I'll go the plastic surgery route. If I do, it would be for my upper arms (the bat wings do annoy me). I can live with my flat chest. I never expected to be a swimsuit model after this surgery. I just wanted to be healthy and energetic. I've been blessed with health, energy, confidence and happiness. I'm truly blessed.
Because I did lots of homework before the surgery, I knew that my appetite would one day return. Well, that day has come. I can honestly say that I've been getting hungry. That's a sensation I haven't had in almost a year. I'm very grateful for this Web site. Folks here encouraged and stressed the importance of developing the good habits right after surgery so I would be ready when my appetite came back.
I continue to focus on protein, fitness and hydration. I know that, even though my brain may be telling me I'm hungry, I don't have to eat on impulse. I can eat when I'm scheduled to eat and what I'm scheduled to eat. That's freedom and I can live with that!
Happy holidays to everyone!
Cassandra
Cassandra,
Great to hear from you and I'm so glad that you have done so well. Keep following those rules. You've done great (by the way I also started at 340 pounds and hover around the 172 pound mark now). Those good habits are going to carry you through the rest of your long life.
Your spinning bud,
Rob
Cassandra, you are doing so well. I have to admit I still don't feel hunger?? However, I do know what 1 bitefull too much feels like. It ain't nice. You have certainly got the 3 most important rules down pat. Protein, fitness and hydration. I think they replaced sip, breathe and walk which was the most important rule as a new post-op. Can't stress the good habits enough. Contined success GF. You look fabulous. Try to make a support group meeting, we all need to see the new and transformed Cassandra. Sharing helps us remain focused, positive and in touch. Elissa
Hi Cassandra,
My year out will be in February and my hunger pangs came back at about 6 months post op. I had so many problems with eating in the beginning so I think that may be why but you look great! Continue doing what you've been doing and you will continue to be successful. Take care and hope to see you at one of the meetings real soon. Take care.
