Beware a RANT is inside
Yes, I did the support group at PA Hospital and let me tell you I am tired of the people who are not normal cir****tances monopologizing the talking time at this meeting. We have one girl who attends, she never exercised a day, and is a size 2-4 no issues at all. I think its great but not normal. Why do you want to give false hope to pre ops and talk alot about your unusual journey? Their was a pre op who spoke up and said he was sick of hearing her. I should have applauded him! I know it does not sound like I am a good support person for this system. I go there about once every few months why because its my surgeon's support and I want to see what is happening in the program and how things have changed. One thing that came over me while I listened to this dialog is why do we think others journey's will be like ours???? We are individuals and what one experience does not mean another will. Its good to share but I think you have to know the items you should share. I think bragging about not exercising a day and going from a 28 to a 2 is not realistic to new comers to this surgery. And to say it about three times in a two hour meeting was way too much for me! Needless to say I would have liked to have gone to hear PS speak next month but I think I will pass. Well sorry if I don't sound like a great support person here...I just don't think this talk should be advertised too much and I guess I should call the program coordinator and chat with her. Why I think these gals do it is for the attention. They have come out of the fat shell and lost weight so no one is talking to them about the loss anymore so they come to the meeting to WOW the pre ops...although one pre op really wasn't WOWed and spoke up! I guess its true we should take what we need from these meetings and that is all. I know I can't do no exercise without a gain on the scale so I am not even going to try! Have a nice day!

Debbie, Don't let this women upset you. Do you really want to be a size 2-4? I know I don't! I am starting to see bones now I have never seen in my life. I don't feel size matters. Are you healthier now? That is the inportant thing. Don't stop exercising. It does your body good. I feel your pain and really know where you are coming from. I have lost 3/4 of a lb in about 4 weeks. Am I discussed ? Yes!!!!! I really want to lose 10 lbs before I go to the Drs on December 12th. I am consentrating on what I eat and exercizing everyday. It is a daily struggle for I can eat about a cup at a meal and my Dr does not beleive in protein shakes, ect. He did say it was ok to do protein bars. I hear people everyday that has done better then I have but I am thankful for where I have came. I'm glad for them. You have come a long way yourself and should hold your head up high and be proud. So what who cares if this women is a size 2-4. I was that when I was born.LOL!!!! Everyone was not made to be that size. Cheer up and get back to the gym. God loves you and will take care of you. Do your part and forget about Ms. Size 2-4!!! See you and I both lighter. Joanne
I am so glad I was not out of line thinking like this....You are so right...support groups and just that support....I am not sure if they started bragging groups yet...but perhaps if they did she needs to go there! I just didn't like the message she was sending. This is really hard work for alot of us. Its not the easy way out! That is such a bad message!
You Have a GREAT DAY too!
Debbie
Hey Deb,
You are so right and I understand your feelings completely. When people are pre-op they need to have realistic goals and I believe that being a size 2/4 is not one of them. During my Lifeskills class we discussed body image and someone in the class was bent on being that size as her goal and when she was told to be more realistic about her goals since most people just are not that small generally we never saw her again. Now I can't say for certain if this was the reason she stopped showing up but when this was brought to her attention it was as if her very breath was taken away and I often wonder if she went through with WLS. If someone weighs 400 pounds starting out their goal should be to become as healthy as possible post op and not be a slave to the scale. I have a personal goal for myself but even if I don't reach this I know that my health has improved fourfold and I feel much better physically and mentally having lost the weight I have thus far! Take care and hope to see you soon.

I know I'll never be a size 2/4. I realistically will probably be a 10/12. I am certainly estatically happy with that. I have never worked so hard in my life as I have being healthy & fit. I exercise 4 to 6 times a week. I hate to say this girl is a liar, but I do question her big time???? I follow the rules with very little cheating and it has been worth every minute. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. TT you soon. Cranberry muffins were good. Thks for the recipe.
