EGD?
Well, I am scheduled for mine on December 5th at Wilmington Hospital. What should I expect? What do they do? I was told I would be sedated so I would need someone to drive me home afterwards. Do they put you completely under, or just make you woozy? I have taken the entire day off of work (another day off, oh boy these are adding up) as I am guessing I won't feel very well afterwards. Can someone please let me know. I am a patient of Dr. Wynn's, but when the hospital called to 'verify' everything for this procedure, they said another doctors name for this (I guess someone else does this part). I have been trying to keep my profile updated each step so far. I am hoping and praying that everything works out (each step so far has been).
PS... How do I get my picture next to my post? I set my photo (at least I think I did, computer wasn't saving my sent emails) a little while ago.
Hi Patricia, I just had my EGD on the 17th of Nov. I have had one before so I wasn't really worried too much. They do sedate you, they sprayed the back of my throat with this stuff that was awful, I thought I was going to get sick at one point. Then they put the stuff in my IV to make me sleepy. I did fall asleep, but it wasn't a deep sleep. I remember the tubing entering my mouth but that was it. The next thing I remembered was them telling me I was done and what a lucky person I was because Dr. Wynn came in during my procedure and she wasn't suppose to. I was sleepy for the rest of the day, but that was it I was fine other then that. They will tell you to eat light the rest of the day because your throat will be tender. It will be a breeze.
Not sure about the picture, I just emailed my before picture to obesityhelpl.com but it hasn't posted on there yet.

Hey Patty,
The EGD is a lot simpler than it seems, I've had one since surgery as well as before it and it isn't thrilling to do it without the throat spray (which if you're like me, you won't remember) Don't sweat it if they don't check they can run into trouble when they do the procedure later, so it's worth it! You're doing great...
