What does your family eat?

This is relatively minor but... My surgery is 12/14. My husband is a sweetheart and extremely supportive, but I don't want my surgery and liquids, purees, etc., to be a punishment for him. Did you/do you cook for your family? How do they manage? Also, after I'm back home we have been invited to some holiday stuff, birthdays, etc. I've decided not to talk about WLS widely. How did you manage that as well. I will attend if I feel well, but not be eating( which I think I can hide). Opinions, please. Carol

Hi Carol, My husband and two teenagers ate out alot while I was just home from the hospital, then I started cooking, I would just puree what ever I had cooked for them. My husband and kids were and still are very supportive. About going to holiday functions, I was very open to everyone about my surgery, I always felt people watching what I put on my plate, but nothing was ever said. I hope I helped, there are some people who have had surgery and not told everyone, so maybe they could be more help. Best of luck! Dana

Carol, I cooked for hubby starting the day I got home from hospital. It was such a weird thing because I didn't want the food....but I enjoyed the smells. I never really liked to cook before surgery....Hubby liked it and I liked eating it. As far as parties. I did them. Brought my own foods such as yogurt and no one really minded. Most of the parties I attended were friends that knew I had surgery. Not everyone at the party knew so it was not a topic of conversation. I liked it that way. Now work does not know and well they look at me with a microscope trying to figure out how I am losing....its funny they even try to eat like me! I guess that is a form of flattery. LOL. You tell who you want...its your body and your decision. What others think does not matter. Good luck on the 14th. Debbie
