Well here I am 101 lbs lighter, happier and 1 year post op Nov 19th. Yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do have a hernia though. Found out about a month ago. Have to get surgery sometime but not too thrilled with having them use the knife again right now. Someone said you can get a tummy tuck at the same time and health insurance will pay. Has anyone heard of this? Please let me know. I can eat more now but still have trouble sometimes with foods I have eaten before. I can't eat barbecue (bad move got really sick must be sugar stupid move) I can't eat sugar free low carb ice cream. Got the dry heaves and stomach pains for 3 hours. Sugar free pie is out. I think the fat did it. Got pains for 3 hours. I think it was the crust. No problem with the fruit. Can eat coconut shrimp. Go figure! Bread if toasted well. Only angel hair pasta. The other is too chewy. I weigh about 159-161 range. I wear a size 12 regular and sometimes a 15 junior. I would never have thought I could do that again. I need to update photos soon. I am thrilled. I have spent alot of money on clothes which I never did before. And they are fitted not baggy. I am thankful for the support group that meets every first tueday of the month in rehoboth Beach DE. Keeps me on track. I would do it again in a heartbeat. As far as plastic surgery; I dont know yet. Since I have the hernia I may do tummy thing but I don't know. I'm 59 and holding and my legs are hangy and arms are hangy but don't think I will do much with them. Maybe boobs, some face and neck and tummy. I don't know. I am thinking about it. But am happy now. If can be covered (tummy tuck) with hernia I may do it. I have to make a decision though, hernia is bother me. Anyone else have one. Mine is about the size of a golf ball or more. Right at the waist so when I belt it bothers me. Anyway thanks to all the support from nurses doctors etc. Anyone need any info on having it done or input on 12 months or more support please email me. Will update again later. Thanks a bunch everyone.

Hi Nancy, Congratulations on your weight loss! Happy One Year! I too have a hernia at my belly botton, the size of a quarter. I had it pre-op, and the Doctors document it every time I go. Yes, they told me it would be covered when they do a hernia repair, they invite the plastic surgeon to do the tummy tuck after the repair is done. I am waiting until I am two years out, I still have some more to loose. So best of luck in what ever you decide to do. Keep us updated. Take care, Dana

Hi Nancy You are doing awesome. I bet you look great too. You have come soooo far on this journey, and it's not over yet. Unfortunately I had my hernia repaired about 5 yrs ago. It bothered me alot. Now I wish I'd waited. Hindsight. I think, I'd check with the Dr's and Insurance Co about it being paid for. I'm still tossing around the Tummy tuck and boob reduction. I can hide alot with clothes and it really doesn't bother me that much. I'm lucky I have good elasticity in my skin and good genes. Not too flabby yet. I still wanna loose another 20 lbs before I consider it anything. January it'll be 2 yrs for me. Gosh where did the time go. How is Julie? Haven't talked to her in awhile. Best of luck over the Holiday. Stay away from sugar. ((HUGS)) Elissa

Hi Nancy!!! Hope to see you at Rehobeth's Meeting. I think I was the one who mentioned the Tummy Tuck with a hernia. I developed one above my incision a couple of months ago and was concerned. When I went to the Dr. he said " You have a hernia ! Good" Of course I looked at him like he was crazy. Then he told me most insurance companies will not cover a T/T but they will cover it with hernia repair as long as both are done together. He said we will wait until I lose most of my weight unless I have a problem. So far no problem. Starting to look like a 3rd boob since I am lossing mine and does push out my bra but no pains or anything. It is really growing and when I eat you can put your hand there and it feels like a baby kicking. I am 7 month out and can eat about everything too. If you remember Barry from the group , he was having a hernia repaired also. Hopefully he will be at this months meeting and you can talk to him. If not try emailing him. See you lighter. Joanne
