Surgery in less then 2 weeks--still waiting for approval

Hi Everyone. I haven't posted for a while, but thought I would share that my surgery is scheduled for less than 2 weeks, and I am still waiting for approval. I have been so busy with all my appointments, classes and tests. I've already had my pre-op visit, will have my pre-op testing tomorrow and still no answer. I'm having trouble sleeping from worrying. I can't imagine having to change my date at this point. You get so excited that the let down would be horrible! Any suggestions for the 2 day fast before the surgery? Thanks!

I left the DE surgeons office after my approval never came and they didn't understand the procedures for my insurances!! I hope all goes well for you, but this is the only dr's office that will schedule you without approvals; every other gets you on board and only after the approval will they put you on the calendar.

I sympathize with the part about not knowing if you are actually approved, but I'd say you should be ready anyhow. Some people get approved the day before and surgery goes as scheduled quite often, most are approved within a week or two of their surgery date. So, the best advice I can give you is to take a few breaths and relax, pack your bag and get your mind set in a calm state (easier said than done). Make sure your bag is packed, not much because you won't need it. Chapstick and baby wipes is about all you need -- some like to take their own pillow with them. Suggestions for the two-day liquid pre-op diet: Diet Sprite, SF popsicles, chicken broth, and jello will be your best friends. After surgery, get rid of the soda -- no carbonation. Best of luck and try to relax, Dianne

Thanks Bonnie! You are so sweet. I will have my husband with me the day of surgery. I had my pre-op testing today. Still no word from insurance. They have requested lots of additional information which has been provided. I hope to hear something by Tuesday. I'd hate to still have no answer come Friday with surgery scheduled for Monday. It is so frustrating! Tammy
