Hi Guys! I know Bill said something in Sunday's roll call about me having to go to the doc because of a complication but I don't remember what he said about it (and I don't particularly feel like going back and finding it...), so I will just fill ya'll in on what is going on. I think everyone knows I came home with the PICC line and drain....well, 3-4 inches below the drain, right in my belly button, I developed what looked to be an infection. The area was hard, red, VERY, VERY sore to the touch - Bill palpated the area to check it and when he touch one particular spot......I about shot through the roof!!! We called Dr Irgau who was on call this weekend and he told me to be in the office Monday - someone would see me. We went today and (I am so totally embarrassed..) Dr. S, the other woman in the office, I cannot remember her name right now to save my life, saw me. She says a bit of cellulitis is what it looks like. And since I am on antibiotics...... nothing really to do with it. Keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn't get worse and continues to get better with the antibiotics. We did talk about my problems with getting ANYTHING down and keeping it down - Protein? I am just trying to make sure I get ice or liquid in me somehow!!!! And the pureed foods? Trying to get protein that way? If you count a little bit of peanut butter, possibly Wendy's chili, or fast food mashed potatoes as getting protein....that is about all I can handle. My stomach is just not tolerating ANYTHING!!! Could be antibiotics, could be the pouch...who knows! I am going to have another swallow study done on Weds. to see if that shows anything. Dr. S was so nice though, I think she could hear or see the "why isn't this working" look in both our faces and she looked me square in the eye and said "We will get there, we will get there." I just hope we get there before my system gets too out of balance!!! I needed to hear that that though - you know, from a doctor, that this will be worked out. It gave me that little boost that I needed today. And my poor boys!!!! Surgery has certainly scrambled this brain! Today was my son's Birthday, we decided to celebrate this coming weekend instead of messing with Halloween and would you believe we forgot the time to take them Trick or Treating??!?!?! It was over by the time we started anything!!!! Luckily a few houses still had treats so we stopped by a few places (5 or 6) and called it a night. The boys oddly enough seem very aware of what they are eating and don't seem to be really big into LOTS of junk food so they seemed ok with it!!!! Plus knowing that cake and ice cream await them this weekend - I think that helped too!!!! Whew!!! I cannot wait until I am back on track and got my "program" back to where it needs to be!!!! I will be forgetting my head next!!!! Love and God Bless to all!!!!
